Xavier's Blurbs

About me:

I'm an artist, writer, blogger, webdev, vegan, Buddhist, and transsexual man.

I love art, reading, music, video games, and the indie web. <3

I grew up during the late 2000s/early 2010s, and love that era of tech and nostalgia.

I don't use any social media besides Spacehey and Reddit.

I have a personal website at xavierhm.com. You should totally check it out!

I'm also building a website for binary trans men at transmen.online.

I am astounded by your profile, personal website, and online presence. It's so uniquely cultivated and put together. And you like FLCL, What We Do In The Shadows, Helluva Boss, AND Poppy Z. Brite? ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧ Fantastic art too. Thank you for the add!

tysm!! that means a lot :) and thanks for adding me back!

that's super cool you're into poppy z brite, rare to find someone who also reads their work. have you read any other extreme horror?

I've unfortunately been out of the reading headspace for quite some time and have really been hoping to get back in. :c I own Exquisite Corpse but still need to get to it. The book I have read is a collection of his short stories from way back in the day called Are You Loathsome Tonight? I also recently found the website Godless.com that's full of extreme horror content I can't wait to devote more time to sinking my teeth into. So far I've only read one short story and an incredible comic series called Sad Sack (extremely heavy gore and massive content warnings for nearly everything under the sun for that one). It's full of lesser known indie writers, so is a great spot to discover something new.

If you have any suggestions I'm all ears!

your art is beautiful! thank you for the add. i've been thinking about exploring buddhism after reading a book about modern tibetan history- you got any tips/recommendations on how to practice it in everyday life?

hi! ty! :)

I have a links page on my website, with a section on Buddhism: https://xavierhm.com/links#buddhism

For any newcomers, I recommend this two-part video series by my favorite dharma teacher, Robina Courtin: https://youtu.be/_LIiLA7oEJA?si=Ah_OkwDgAqAvS3RJ

I've been a Buddhist for 10 years now and jumped through a lot of different schools and practices. Sometimes I would stop practicing altogether, or have new doubts etc, but I always find my way back.

I am currently practicing under the Pure Land branch, specifically a Japanese school called Jodo-Shu. I also dabble in Tibetan Buddhism practices.

Buddhism is very esoteric and mystical on the surface, but once you get past that it's very psychological and pragmatic. Almost like cognitive behavioral therapy.
