allt's Interests

General	history (i oscillate between ireland’s (i am primarily interested in the troubles (the peace process and political history of northern ireland at the time are fascinating to me, as is how the british media reported on the war!) and kosovo’s (the kosovo war itself is not that thrilling to me (aside from the serbian media’s reports on it back then and propaganda from that time): milošević’s rise to power and the consequences of the 1981 protests and the 1989 revocation of kosovo’s autonomy are, though!)), uk politics, shortwave radio, literature and languages. i take the occasional peek into religion and sociology as well. (older interests that no longer bring me much joy, but i am still able to discuss (for some reason): albania under communism)
Music	r.e.m., ermal meta, talk talk, the album “ten” by pearl jam, most 1990s alternative rock music, new wave and a lot of sanremo music festival songs that i have left over from when i was interested in it. some people have told me that my music taste reminds them of a british 40-year-old dad’s grilling mix and i, to be honest, kind of agree. (older interests that no longer bring me much joy, but i am still able to discuss (for some reason): frank zappa)
Movies	i am not interested in film at all: if you can recommend me any films, i will try to look into them. i did, however, enjoy “the grand budapest hotel” when i watched it four years ago, so that is there if that says anything.
Television	i am not interested in television either! same goes for television series as goes for films: if you recommend me anything, i will probably look into it. (older interests that no longer bring me much joy, but i am still able to discuss (for some reason): the sanremo music festival)
Books	most works by james joyce (i have read “dubliners”, “a portrait of the artist as a young man”, his poetry and “exiles”), flann o’brien (i have read “at-swim-two-birds” and “the third policeman”), brian friel (i have read “philadelphia, here i come!”, “translations” and “dancing at lughnasa”) and also “waiting for godot” by samuel beckett, “a streetcar named desire” by tennessee williams, “hood” by emma donoghue and “group portrait with lady” by heinrich böll.
Heroes	i am too against idolising any person to really have any. (i am not irish and have no connections to ireland except for my interest in its history and literature, but i felt inclined to add this graphic here because it is just so funny to me. why is the flag disappearing?)

About me:

hello! i am allt. i am interested in quite a lot of things, most of which are history and media-related. i am seventeen, i live in cyprus and speak russian, english and german (nun habe ich fast kein enthusiasmus, deutsch weiter zu lernen. ich habe vor drei jahren begonnen es lernen aus hoffnung, dass ich in deutschland studieren werde aber heute habe ich diese hoffnung verloren. der rechtsextremismus in deutschland wächst stärker und stärker und es macht mir herzjagende angst). i am always happy to learn about anything (though, with my current workload as an a-level student, it is rather difficult for me to be consistently active on here!), even if it damages the comfortable position i am in (when it comes to politics, i just want everyone to live a life free from suffering and am, therefore, against all hierarchy, and, through the four or so years i have been exploring history and politics so far, very interested in resistance movements): ignorant is something i aim not to be, though i, as any other person, very much can be.

Report Comment i live in limassol! it is not really that exciting of a place (everything seems to happen in nicosia and i absolutely understand this view as i literally wrote a blog entry the last time i went there, except for football (i do not watch any sports broadcasting, but how often support for cypruot football teams is tied to the area in which one lives in and their political stances (for example, in limassol, there are two main football teams (technically three, but the only thing i know about aris limassol is that they are owned by a russian oligarch), ael and apollon limassol, the former being associated with anti-police sentiment (i live in an “ael area” and i see a lot of acab and anarchist symbol graffiti that is drawn out of support for the club rather than any genuine political conviction (this is just sad, i know!), which i find really interesting. reminds me a little bit about how the phrase “up the ra” emerged not from the ira, but glasgow celtic fc supporters!) and the latter with right-wing bigotry), as this reminds me so much of the glasgow celtic-rangers and hibernian-heart of midlothian football rivalries in scotland (once again, i am not interested in sport, the only reason i know a lot about these is because i read a lot of irvine welsh books when i was 15), the carnival (which i am not interested in at all), the wine festival (which only tourists seem to be interested in but, hey, i wrote about it in my german exam last year!) and some radio stations), but that pleases me quite a lot. the only reason i want to leave is because i want to cut myself off from my family and that has nothing to do with the place at all. by allt; 1735940343; Report (sorry for the infodump, i tend to do that!) by allt; 1735940363; Report no no i love infodumps it's okay i'm always down for a good infodump by benny // whalefall; 1735951947; Report
