General

radio broadcasting, public broadcasting, music, irish history and irish republicanism (i am mainly interested in the troubles, though i love learning about earlier events in ireland, such as the irish war of independence and irish civil war too!), music history and music theory, literature, wikipedia and religion (i am always happy to learn anything about religion because i find it so interesting, even though i can only say the only religious denomination i have ever explored in detail has, so far, been quakerism!)

(older interests that no longer bring me much joy, but i am still able to discuss: yugoslav history (i used to be especially interested in kosovo), albanian history)

Music

talk talk, r.e.m., orchestral manoeuvres in the dark’s first two albums, pearl jam’s first two albums, yello and ermal meta. i mainly listen to 1980s and 1990s alternative rock music alongside various electronic music (synthpop music is wonderful and so is a lot of the house music that was popular in the 1990s! i enjoy anything that reminds me of the soundtrack to “trainspotting”, even though i did not enjoy the film that much) and am always open to discovering anything new, whether it is through other people’s recommendations, wikipedia articles, my town’s local rock radio station or cybc radio 2.

Movies

i am not interested in film at all: if you can recommend me any films, i will absolutely look into them, though! i did, however, enjoy “the grand budapest hotel” when i watched it four years ago, so that is there if that says anything?

Television

i am not interested in television either! same goes for television series as goes for films: if you recommend me anything, i will probably look into it!

Books

i adore the work of james joyce (i have read “dubliners”, “a portrait of the artist ss a young man”, his poetry and “exiles”), flann o’brien (i have read “at-swim-two-birds” and “the third policeman”) and brian friel (i have read “philadelphia, here i come!”, “translations” and “dancing at lughnasa”) i also love the plays “waiting for godot” by samuel beckett and “a streetcar named desire” by tennessee williams. some of my other favourite books are “hood” by emma donoghue and “group portrait with lady” by heinrich böll.

Heroes

i am too against idolising any person to really have any.
(i am not irish and have no connections to ireland except for my interest in its history and literature, but i felt inclined to add this graphic here because it is just so funny to me! why is the flag disappearing?)
