๏ธ. I navigated easily with little Japanese and still had a wonderful time! I did stay in the touristy areas but I am sure if I was to explore more of the rural areas I would have a harder time. Google maps and translate helped a lot... when navigating the subway. most places had English translation after Japanese. or pictures to point to for food etc. The first day will be confusing but it will be easier
