You can make it as thundery or gentle or sharp or distant or steamy or watery as you please, and it'll be cozier to YOU than any random thing I can pull off YouTube. Hi hi! I'm literally in the same boat when it comes to VRC (I get nauseous in VR, only know how to make avis and worlds for PC and not Quest, and am ultimately too broke lol)

I've found a bunch of other people on here that very casually hop on VRC sometimes, but I've been too busy to actually meet up. Maybe I should make a VRC group to connect folks and keep everyone in touch? Idk I'll ask some people :3

There's LOADS of super cool LGBTQ folks on here! I don't think I've felt as comfy being queer as I do on here ^v^

perfectly valid, tbh. distinct memory of actively NOT going through the rest of their discography because i was thoroughly and utterly convinced that it didn't get any better than Deacon Blues and the sardonic loserdom that it practically drowned in. it was nice to be proven wrong some weeks later, lmao

Fagen's solo stuff is great but Kamakiriad is exceptionally wonderful, if only because 1. it's a quasi-Dan album since Becker straight up contributed to it and 2. it's a concept album about a friggin' car. would strongly recommend checking that out sometime. (or, really, anything by the Dan that you haven't checked out yet. hard to go wrong with their repetoire)

Hey hey, I've spent the past couple of hours working my way from Can't Buy a Thrill through The Royal Scam. I dug the stuff on Countdown to Ecstasy and Pretzel Logic a lot, although I can't really point to any specific songs as ones that stuck out to me that much (other than the ones I'd already heard). I guess that's the thing about vinyl-era music: it's a lot easier to think of it as an album-length experience than a collection of songs ^v^ The progression from their older stuff to their newer stuff was also really cool to hear!

aaaa, happy to hear that! yeah, listening as their sound actively gets more and more refined before outright peaking at Aja is a great vibe. hard-pressed to recall the last time i revelled in an artist's/band's 'growth' like that, lol.
thing i'd at least slightly disagree with, though—if only because the brainrot is strong(!)—is the notion of no particular track standing out. the chaotically hypnotic sound of Show Biz Kids, the broodingly cozy vibes paired with McDonald's lovely vocals on Bad Sneakers, the chorus and that all-timer, tail-end solo on Kid Charlemagne, so on and so forth - there's a lot to adore and obsess over once you let the tracks settle in more with ya on repeated, focused plays. (sometimes it's an outright necessity, i feel; you can't appreciate something like Peg in full until you realize just how much is really going on, instrumentally)

Peg and a couple others (*inhale* Do it Again, Reelin', Bodhisattva, Rikki, Kid Charlemagne, Hey Nineteen, everything on Aja) get the "the ones I'd already heard" caveat :3 And I'm pretty sure I've actually seen that "making of" vid before!

Although by this point of the night/morning I've got through a couple more and am now on Two Against Nature. It's so groovy and smooth for a '00s album! On my way here though, I came across Glamour Profession on Gaucho and really dug it for some reason. The lyrics are weird and the groove is irresistible. If I were somebody's weird uncle I'd do it for karaoke.

Gaucho is impressive as all hell by virtue of following Aja's steps, in terms of quality, near-perfectly. in a better world though, i think i'd take The Second Arrangement over My Rival - a sentiment that Becker and Fagen themselves'd probably agree with - but alas, no cryin' over spilt milk. fantastic album either way. the piano playoff on Time Out of Mind never fails to emit fresh, outta-the-box dopamine :p
