I'm a sucker for tic-tac-toe if a pen and paper are available, especially super-tic-tac-toe where each of the 9 squares is its own tic tac toe board. My sibling likes this hand game where you like try to make your opponent put up too many fingers by giving them your fingers or something? I'm also a big fan for the classic "talk about the logistics of a stupid unrealistic scenario". A recent time-passing conversation I was a part of was "how many dung beetles do I need to put on hamster wheels to power a car, and would it just be easier to put them in hamster balls and put a platform on top?" What about you?

I have a few ideas but I feel like most of them would run into problems being implemented or get immediately overturned. So, my choice is forcing him to raise the national minimum wage to like $12/hr. It's low enough to where I don't think it would cause many problems putting it into action, and I think if Congress tried to undo it people of several different political inclinations would be pissed.

I'd challenge him to 4 tracks of Mariokart Wii, 150cc. The tracks don't matter, because he's 81(!!!). I'm not even planning on living to 81. I'm not competitive-level at Mariokart or anything but I do know where the shortcuts are and I can get through Rainbow Road or something with minimal falling off.

But yeah I don't feel confident getting him to enact like free national healthcare or anything because if I did I fear that some health insurance exec would put a horse head in my bed. And that just sounds like a pain to clean up, y'know?

HRMMMMMMM. Minimum wage is such a complicated issue. First, the president can only unilaterally raise the minimum wage within the scope of the executive (biden already raised the hourly minimum wage for federal gvmnt contractors to $15), but outside of that, you'd need congress's approval.

A good place for improvement within the power of an executive order I think would be for the federal government to stipulate that any employees or contractors of private entities be paid a 12-15$ minimum wage if that private enterprise is to receive any federal money. This would be helpful all over the place, but especially in Universities. A weird condition of many student visas is that they only allow non-citizen students to work for pay for the university.

This sounds kinda like a good idea if your concern is that foreigners are using student visas to obtain wages in the US, but it is super detrimental for university studying because of the effects it has on the labor market. Because foreign students can only work for their university, the universities have a large pool of laborers who are forced to accept university wages, meaning they do not offer competitive wages.

This has two particularly nasty consequences.

1. US Citizens who are supporting themselves through College, and therefore need competitive wages, can not find well paying work in academia. Without any well (enough) paying positions, they are forced to take a job somewhere else, which might require sacrificing undergraduate research or other any of the other academic involvement. So this noncompetitive market hurts the upward mobility of poor US students because they can't afford to get into research and make a good masters or doctoral candidate. Richer students, who never needed to support themselves and can take the job just for the research opportunity therefore stay entrenched within academia and non-citizen students have to just take or leave university pay regardless of how bad the wage is.
2. This has a secondary run-off effect of causing the demographics of student employees to be very different from the student population. With non-citizen students only able to work on campus and citizen students who need to support themselves having to find off-campus work, you end up with a lot of non-citizen student employees. That can kind of suck because like I have a hard time with processing voices already sometimes and foreign accents don't help!

And a federal projects minimum wage would just fix this! Assuming it's a competitive minimum wage, that is. It would help poorer citizens, who are currently largely disenfranchised, find work in academia and by increasing the amount of people who would look for jobs in academia, you should also expect higher quality employees to be selected on average.

Even with congress's approval, I'm honestly not sure I support a general minimum wage. There are a whole bunch of weird problems that minimum wages cause (especially where they interact with labor markets which employ people illegally), but I do think wages neeed to be higher in general, so I'm mixed. I personally think that the US needs European-style
unions and that would fix most wage issues. Also the corresponding anti-union-busting laws. American unions do not currently have the protections to actually organize labor to have their demands met through collective action and have basically just become industry-specific lobbying groups and that's why they barely actually help workers. If we could just magically have european-style unions in the US, I don't think the minimum wage would be a problem. But, we don't, and I'm unsure if American culture is capable of creating good, strong unions. If we can have good unions, I think minimum wages are stinky, but if we aren't culturally capable of that, I guess minimum wages are the best we got...

For my personal Joe Biden order, there are eight million extremely ideological things that I might do if I didn't have to feat my executive order being overturned, especially if I can also exercise fiat over congress, but I'll just answer with something that I think is actually politically feasible -- banning big pharma companies from patenting their medicine if it's paid for by federal money. This almost happened with the covid vaccine under the Trump administration, so it feels like a super politically viable change to me.

I would beat Joe Biden's ass in NES Tetris or Tetris Effect, his choice.

I mean that's a fair breakdown, and I agree that if the US was like a lot of European nations when it came to work then it wouldn't be a big deal. But also there's nothing more American than treating your employees as badly as you can get away with.

Also I like your option, but you WOULD wake up with a horse head in your bed. At least whatever medicine you had to take to get rid of whatever disease you contracted from the horse head would be cheaper?

Good tidings, nice to see ya around! I typically prefer originals to remixes because I'm a nerd. Uhhh if we're talking about remixes that are way better than the original, Giga's version of this Vocaloid song turned the song from complete nothingburger to something listenable. I really liked Fall Out Boy's intro on that one remix of hand crushed by a mallet by 100 gecs but the verses, done by a different guest artist, were lackluster. I'm sure that I have more answers rattling around my noggin somewhere but that's all I've got for now.
Except:
-Joke answer that claims itself to be a remix but seems to just be a completely independent song by the same artist as the original song being referenced (cw balls)
-Does plunderphonics that has been so plundered and phonicked that it's basically actually just sampling count? I've been digging this artist lately

Tl;dr I don't really have a favorite remix per se but I can acknowledge when an artist puts a good spin on a song

Uhhh I never finished Homestuck but I do believe it was genre-breaking and original and all that. 17776 is cool in a similar way, I read it years ago and I can't remember if I finished it. XKCD is my favorite good n proper webcomic, and thus you could argue that the newish YouTube channel from the creator is like a webcomic, and it's good. Does Blaseball count as like a webcomic or was it just surrealist fantasy sports? (Go Breath Mints!) Podcasts are like a webcomic in some way, but I've never been able to get into very serialized ones other than maybe Welcome to Night Vale, kinda.

It feels like I'm losing the idea of "like a webcomic" as I speak. I feel like Homestuck definitely fits the category, but putting it there opens up the floodgate for a bunch of other things to be like a webcomic.

Do you have any good answers?

I know of homestuck, but have not read it. I love 17776 and it's sequel. XKCD is also good for an occasional laugh for me, but I prefer 17776 of the two. I had never heard of Blaseball and therefore don't feel like I can evaluate if it counts or not, but podcasts are totally out.

The only thing I can think of as someone who isn't that into webcomics is tails gets trolled, which I haven't read completely but am a fan of.

Hard boiled, to where the yolk is all the way solid and maybe even a little grey on the outside. Barring that, fried until it's beyond done and a little crispy and brown on the edges. I'm not a fan of runny or jelly like yolks :( I know my opinion is wrong but I'm not gonna suffer a yolk that isn't the consistency of a bouncy ball.

Alternative answers: meringue cookies (if omelettes count then this does too), scrambled hard with bell peppers and onions and mushrooms and placed inside a breakfast burrito, any cake that is mostly leavened with the power of egg, eggnog.

What about you? And, as a bonus, what is your preference for things to go inside a tortilla?

For an egg on it's own, I'll usually have the white cooked and the middle runny. Then I dip my bacon in the yolk, since I almost never have eggs without bacon.

In terms of an egg containing dish, when I was a kid I HATED eggs and would only eat them as an "egg in the hole" or "elephant eye" . It's basically when you fry an egg in the center of a slice of bread while browning the bread to a consistency that is like toast but greasier since you're frying it.

Lately I've been frying eggs in bacon grease, slapping them in the middle of a sandwitch, and then air frying the sandwitch for 12 min at 250* . It's pretty damn good.

I'm def a yolk person, but the boiled egg people yell at me just as much as the fried egg people yell at you, so I think we can just strive to be kinder than that and accept each-other's egg preferences.

I've never had a meringue cookie, but I agree that a loaded scrambled egg in a breakfast burrito can be divine, but I'm also occasionally just a fan of a loaded scrambled egg on it's own as well.

I prefer to cook with flour tortillas since I'm secretly kinda elitist about liking hispanic food in the way I was trained to think of as proper, having grown up only a few miles from the US-Mexico border in a majority hispanic town, so if I'm having a flour tortilla, it's usually food from a resturant instead of something i made myself. I love making home make corn tortilla tacos. I haven't done that in a while tho, perhaps I'll put it on my todo list.

This conversation has made me so hungry.

After that comment, I went to the kitchen and tried to make loaded eggs with barely any interesting ingredients, so it just ended up being eggs with bacon bits and too many spices. Not the worst scrambled eggs I'd ever had, but not the culinary experience I had hyped myself up for. Maybe I need to stock up on bell pepper next time I hit the supermarket.

Nothing wrong with baconeggs, but do consider onions and mushrooms in addition to bell pepper. Maybe even some tomato. Shredded cheese! Toast?

(Although I'm wondering if you did actually have some interesting ingredients that were too interesting to be considered. Oatmeal? Mashed potatoes? Canned ravioli? What egg transmutation can you accomplish when you break free from the idea of what an egg should be? I'm realizing that I'm basically pulling a Midnight Gourmand here...)

I threw in both pepperjack and colby jack cheese, but I had no onion and am a mushroom hater. I tried to make up for the onion with onion powder, but it's just not the same.

Also, I am bound by some convention in terms of where I am willing to venture with food prep, so the Gourmandesque ingredients are out for me.

Entitled is a very strong word. I think I'd like to have one (but not as my first choice for a Pokémon pet). After a quick skim of a wiki it seems like they're incredibly low maintenance, so I don't think any Pokémon adoption agency/eccentric professor would turn me down for one.

Bonus question ping-pong: what would be your first choice of Pokémon to eat? Since some of them are eaten in-universe and all. I think I'd feel least bad about cooking a Feebas, but if I saw an Alcremie I think I'd have to get a nibble in.
