General

𖦏 any art related stuff basically. maybe a bit of music if i have the motivation for it! i love making things, especially if they're gifts! been on my sewing grind recently :3
𖦏 PLANES! i love planes a lot :3 i don't have a lot of specific knowledge on them but oh well, maybe one day. i hope to study aviation engineering one day. i live not too far from an airport so i get to see flights fly in and depart sometimes :D my fav plane of all time is the mitshubishi crj 700!
𖦏 a fair bit of D&D!! at least when our group can somehow plan a session. i love creating sad tragic losers of life as characters and giving them NO redemption arc whatsoever >:3

Music

𖦏 practically obsessed with my chemical romance and all their side projects... don't mention them or you'll be stuck with me for a good few hours while i explain the entire lore to you. i'm seeing them this july and i'm super stoked!!!

𖦏 currently in my cybergoth phase, basically blasting miss construction, kmfdm, x-rx, phosgore, suicide commando and zombie girl nonstop... it's a problem, to be honest. i've been doing industrial dance sometimes and it's a lot of fun! highly recommend :D

Books

𖦏 august strindberg – "inferno"
i've never experienced neurosis, but i do relate to Strindberg's paranoid thoughts. the electricity in the walls and the fear of being electrocuted while sleeping is now something i commonly use in my creative writing works.
𖦏 oscar wilde – "the picture of dorian gray"
there's not a lot to say about the book that hasn't been said already. it's just an excellent depiction of hedonism, and really just a hard-hitting story.
what basil hallward said about people's names at the start of the book really resonated with me. it was something along the lines of "saying a person's name out loud diminishes some of their beauty/mystery/whatever". it might be a bit weird, but i have a tendency of avoiding saying people's names out loud, instead usually resorting to one specific feature about them instead (e.g. geographical location, clothing style, where i met them, etc.), and basil saying that just really struck a chord with me. if you couldn't tell by my name, he's my favourite character by far :3
i admire oscar wilde as a person, too. de profundis (the letter to oscar's lover, lord alfred douglas) really hit me hard. "to regret one's own experiences is to arrest one's own development. to deny one's own experiences is to put a lie into the lips of one's own life. it is no less than a denial of the soul."
𖦏 william shakespeare – "hamlet"
it might be cringe as fuck to list a shakespeare play as one of my favourite books, but it's actually true. i really didn't get my classmates' hate for it. 'oh noo, everyone dies at the end' YES because it's a TRAGEDY and that's how TRAGEDIES work.
anyway, hamlet's entire character really spoke to me. i, too, tend to really overdramatise and generalise things – even if it goes against my actual beliefs. and Hamlet reacting so strongly to everything just really hit me hard. admittedly, reading his monologues felt like reading my own rants.
𖦏miguel de cervantes – "don quixote"
yet another odd choice, but i absolutely loved it. i have nothing more to say except repeat the same old 'he's literally me!!', just about don quixote this time. also, pencey prep reference??

i'm not religious, but you've gotta admit, it's a folk classic!! the lore is amazing and its impact on art (and life, too) throughout history is immense. amazing, isn't it? currently on the second book of chronicles. I DO NOT SUPPORT IT BEING USED TO JUSTIFY GENOCIDE!
𖦏 licia troisi – "chronicles of the emerged world"
this trilogy may or may not have kickstarted my 'not like other girls' phase. to be fair, as a kid, i thought nihal having natural blue hair and purple eyes and being an amazing swordswoman and loving dragons and whatnot was the raddest thing ever. "ohh but that's mary sue-" shut the fuck up!!! let fantasy be fantastical!!!
also, i really, really wanted to be sennar. he's genuinely just a likeable little dude AND he's smart!! literally the average transmasc's transition goals
𖦏 johann wolfgang von goethe – "faust"
another cliché choice once again but i LOVED faust sm. some of the translations were phenomenal, i have a couple lines written down so i can use them in my creative writing (and i have used them in lyrics before!). i can't even find the words for it rn, if you want a more in-depth look maybe come back when i change my layout again

this started my emo phase before i was even aware what emo is
𖦏 basically any poem from the keturvėjininkai movement in lithuania
i won't get into the history of it here but genuinely the coolest movement to ever come out of this god forsaken country, going against the sappiness of romanticism and just forming art as an "is", as something that doesn't need to be beautiful or well-structured, something that can be harsh, it's absolute perfection! if i were alive in the 20's i would be SO obsessed with kazys binkis, you don't get it. i need to make time to scour through every single source and find every single written piece of theirs ever.

Heroes

𖦏 frank iero!! i've mentioned it a couple of times on here already but god, his music has done so much for me. i think i've been literally changed as a human being just by hearing stomachaches. he's also literal transition goals (ESPECIALLYYYY leathermouth frank!!!! oh my goddddd)

𖦏 my brother!! he's literally the most awesome person on earth and i will angrily stare at anyone who dares say otherwise. he's been an inspiration for me since pretty much day one and i think i may have accidentally become his less skilled copy.
𖦏 the one communist history teacher at my school. he's been my teacher for three months now and honestly i don't get the hate for him... he's cool asf, he actually teaches how to look at context and analyse things properly, he's an awesome spokesperson! and outside of classes he's really kind and inquisitive as well which is super rad. his tests are impossible but i can forgive that... for now, at least.
𖦏 my grandma from my mom's side! she might be annoying sometimes but i really admire her strength. she's been through a lot and she's very dedicated to her family. maybe sometimes too humble about it, which is a shame. i now see her every other or every third week and it's awesome, she's insanely understanding and always has something to talk about :) she's also sooo encouraging, genuinely does everything to support my artistic career without me even asking for it.
