a fair bit of D&D!! at least when our group can somehow plan a session. i love creating sad tragic losers of life as characters and giving them NO redemption arc whatsoever <33

Frank Iero fanboy. don't mention any of his solo projects around me because you will NOT get any quiet for at least a couple of months

currently in my crunkcore n scene phase. Dropping a Popped Locket is probably the best possible mix of both. love that guy

August Strindberg – "Inferno"
i've never experienced neurosis, but i do relate to Strindberg's paranoid thoughts. the electricity in the walls and the fear of being electrocuted while sleeping is now something i commonly use in my creative writing works.

Oscar Wilde – "The Picture of Dorian Gray"
there's not a lot to say about the book that hasn't been said already. it's just an excellent depiction of hedonism, and really just a hard-hitting story.
what Basil Hallward said about people's names at the start of the book really resonated with me. it was something along the lines of "saying a person's name out loud diminishes some of their beauty/mystery/whatever". it might be a bit weird, but i have a tendency of avoiding saying people's names out loud, instead usually resorting to one specific feature about them instead (e.g. geographical location, clothing style, where i met them, etc.), and Basil saying that just really struck a chord with me.
i admire Oscar Wilde as a person, too. De Profundis (the letter to Oscar's lover, Lord Alfred Douglas) really hit me hard. "To regret one's own experiences is to arrest one's own development. To deny one's own experiences is to put a lie into the lips of one's own life. It is no less than a denial of the soul."

William Shakespeare – Hamlet
it might be cringe as fuck to list a Shakespeare play as one of my favourite books, but it's actually true. i really didn't get my classmates' hate for it. 'oh noo, everyone dies at the end' YES because it's a TRAGEDY and that's how TRAGEDIES work.
anyway, Hamlet's entire character really spoke to me. i, too, tend to really overdramatise and generalise things – even if it goes against my actual beliefs. and Hamlet reacting so strongly to everything just really hit me hard. admittedly, reading his monologues felt like reading my own rants.

Miguel de Cervantes – Don Quixote
yet another odd choice, but i absolutely loved it. i have nothing more to say except repeat the same old 'he's literally me!!', just about Don Quixote this time. also, Pencey Prep reference??
