Dazlin's Interests

General

I'm pretty much into anything - essentially history, gothic, horror, romance, action and of course sci‑fi (into cinema, books, anime). Video games are also a hobby of mine (including indies, though I'm rather fond of the Red Dead games), music, and cartoons. I also love making art and drawing; sometimes, even doing a bit of writing. ⋆⭒˚。⋆

Music

If I had to choose a genre, I'd go for old Country music/Pop-Rock, especially from the '70's, '80s, '90s. But I mostly like a mix of songs here and there - OSTs from movies, shows, artists, groups, and bands... ⋆⭒˚。⋆

Movies

⋆ Isle of Dogs ⋆ Frankenstein ⋆ The Boy and the Beast ⋆ The Quick and the Death ⋆ Sympathy for Lady Vengeance ⋆ Puss in Boots (my fellow Andalusian) ⋆ How to Train Your Dragon ⋆ Brokeback Mountain ⋆ Dances with Wolves ⋆ Inglourious Basterds ⋆ Song of the Sea ⋆ Sinners ⋆ Avatar ⋆ Deadpool

Television

⋆ Yellowstone ⋆ Supernatural ⋆ Lovely Complex ⋆ The Walking Dead ⋆ Shingeki No Kyojin ⋆ Fingersmith (2005) ⋆ Blue Eye Samurai ⋆ Zankyō no Terror ⋆ Ed, Edd n Eddy ⋆ Regular Show ⋆ Code Lyoko ⋆ South Park ⋆ Scooby Doo ⋆ Shin Chan ⋆ Arcane ⋆ 1883

Books

⋆ Fingersmith ⋆ Tipping the Velvet ⋆ Wuthering Heights ⋆ The Sisters Brothers ⋆ Lots from Stephen King ⋆ Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ⋆ Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children ⋆ The Walking Dead comics ⋆ Tatsuki Fujimoto works ⋆ The Metamorphosis ⋆ Star Wars comics ⋆ I Am Legend ⋆ True Grit ⋆ 19 Days

Heroes

You have some badass taste too! The very second I sent you the request, I actually thought your profile was from Skyrim. I peeked at your Spotify a bit and spotted Phantogram - peak music taste ; )
The song is on YouTube as Ladybug PV—it was a known test animation for the series. Hope you can add it to your playlist somewhere, it’s a good track and might fit your style.

Thank you for your cool words x

Cheesed to meet you and thank you for the add. I wrote 3 paragraphs and SpaceHey told me there was an internal server error and deleted my disgustingly long profile comment. I am going to throw my hands in the air and make everything a simple sentence, so sorry

Have you watch Wolfwalkers, Paranorman, and/or Monster House? I've not watched Wolfwalkers but I would like to see it. I dislike watching movies since I have to watch them and not wander around doing chores or activities though I guess I could work out while something plays in the background; I am unsure how people pay attention to both at the same time

I want watch Isle of Dogs even more now

Not animated: Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Rewatched lately, made me sad. Probably a good movie

Have nice spaceDay

I believe I was able to see your three paragraphs - if that’s what I replied to earlier. It’s a shame that SpaceHey still isn’t a bit more optimized for today, considering how many people still make use of these kinds of forums! D:

Cheesed to meet you and thank you for the add; your profile is very cool. Have you watched Wolfwalkers? I've not watched it myself but the previews of it and your list of liked movies make me think that you may enjoy it. I should watch it myself since I am still curious as to what it is about.

How about Paranorman and/or Monster House? The both of them are actually so good; I've gone out my way to tell my parents to watch those two movies with me and both of them actually liked them to my suprise. They dislike animated movies! Not an animated movie, but I recently rewatched Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007) and it was somehow more touching to me now than it was before.

I don't really watch moves anymore since I usually get the itch to do things like wash the dishes or just be anywhere but a chair/bed/couch so I cannot recommend anything meaningful right now, so sorry. The listing of the Isle of Dogs makes me want to watch it more though. I've also never watched Mr. Fantastic Fox even though I keep hearing it's really good. I suffer internet baby brain and have to live on 2x speed in real life even though I don't watch short videos or cocomelon level content

Hope you have a nice spaceDay

Hello!
I hadn’t noticed your comment until now - and what a lovely surprise it was!

I haven’t seen Wolfwalkers yet, though it’s been on my list for a while - it’s from the same creators as Song of the Sea, if I’m not mistaken? Which only makes me want to finally sit down and watch it even more! I hope you can watch it soon, too.

I’m a huge fan of stop-motion films like Paranorman. I watched it when I was really young, so I don’t remember much about the plot. Monster House is another one I love - especially for its humor :) I love that you showed it to your parents! My dad was actually the one who introduced me to those kinds of movies when I was little. I had no idea Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium (2007) even existed - what’s it about?

I’ve got a short attention span too, and I often find myself looking for other things to do while watching movies - in general, I do better with series since I get hooked more easily. I really think you should watch Isle of Dogs. I’m a big stop-motion fan, like I mentioned, and that one’s got such a fantastic variety of characters and traits. Plus, the soundtrack is absolutely brilliant!

When I wrote the second, profile comment I had reloaded the page to see if my first comment (which is in this thread/chain) had posted and it did not... So sorry about that lol. To respond to your reply to my later profile comment, yes these three paragraphs were the ones I was talking about. I can delete that profile comment since it appears the original came out, plus it's functionally spam.

> I watched it when I was really young, so I don’t remember much about the plot.
I would recommend a rewatch if desired! It's still very funny and touching to me to this day.

> My dad was actually the one who introduced me to those kinds of movies when I was little.
That's awesome! I wonder how he learned of these things; it's not often I hear of parents recommending specific movies to kids, even if just by 'seeing bits of it and suggesting it.' My dad has done this with/to me with video games though.

> I had no idea Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium (2007) even existed
Had it not been for my mom somehow watching and getting into it herself, I too would have never known of it.

> - what’s it about?
Without spoiling much, the movie is focuses on a few characters: the toy shop runner who is late in this life; a twenty something year old worker/manager of the shop that has great relations with the owner and wishes for her musical dreams; a newly hired (and joyless) accountant that rejects the whimsical in life; an outcasted child that works at the shop and orbits the accountant; and the toy shop ("emporium") itself, of which is more than a shop in straightforward/diagetic and arguably metaphorical ways, though the latter is very much up to individual interpretation.

Like Paranorman, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium makes me both sad and jolly; the fact the movie was received pretty poorly by critics and even called a train wreck by its writer makes me wonder if I have unintentionally attached more emotional weight to it than was actually present, or if they (the critics and writer) don't see the movie as I did and do. I think that even just at the 'basic set-design, color, and whimsical' levels, it's really good for a live action kid's movie and maybe even a little more than good; it's hard for me to not see it as something having heart be put into it, but for all I know I could be ascribing more to it than there really is.

Again, I am clearly biased so take my recommendation with a grain of salt.

Christopher Nolan is a magnificent director. I've seen a couple of his movies, including Interstellar and Oppenheimer, which I see are also on your list. Thank you very much for the recommendation! I will definitely look into more of his films and the ones you've mentioned.
