Silent Hill used to scare the hell out of me, that and Parasite Eve!

I was a big fan of the Gungrave series on PS2, they weren't amazing games but the character design was amazing and there was a lot of fun to be had.

I have a love/hate relationship with Zelda 2. It's often voted the most hates Zelda game because of the change in style to RPG. Its ridiculously hard but it was my first ever RPG and the cartridge was gold lol.

I think my brother has about 2 or 3 of the .hack games on his attic. He was (and still is) a massive RPG fan.

I've not actually picked anything up since completing FF8. I kinda want to go back and get all the character triple triad cards. After that I may go back to Ghost of Tsushima that is still haven't finished.

GTA5 is another game that intrigues me a lot. I am trying to catch up since, before trying "new" stuff, I wanted to play a good amount of older games I didn't try yet :D

What is your favourite Persona game? I played the 2 duology and 3, and I have to say that 2 was such a better experience for my tastes. 3 was great and it gives a melancholic feeling, but 2 has a story I loved way more and a superb cast. Plus, I kept people saying it was almost unplayable but actually I found it really enjoyable and easy. And also the 90s setting is awesome!

Honestly, I have high expectations regarding FF16. We didn't get a single player medieval FF games for too much time. It feels like FF and I think this mature approach may lead to some good stuff. But maybe I'm too optimistic - I did enjoy 15 a lot, despite playing the Royal edition. So you know, when the game was a complete one :D

It is fun indeed! I used to do it until a few years ago, any ideas about what to stream? Like, JRPGs or maybe something else?

Exactly, the cast was the biggest turn off for me, despite some really interesting characters. But overall it felt a little bit insipid... I should seriously give it another go. Later on, though.

I'm going with Royal! I've been wanting to play it for so long now. I got it a few weeks ago, the last day prior another lockdown lol the weird part is that the store is like 5 towns away from my place (15 km-ish), but due to restrictions I can't go there anymore. So it was like a "Oh my god, in a couple of minutes I need to get a game that will stay with me for the next months, what do I do - oh ok Persona 5 is hella long so this is it". Fun part is that at least, due to the situation, I am enjoying it sooo much. Taking it slowly and appreciatig it. No need to rush it (I must not rush it).

I think I read somewhere that to be classed as 'retro' it needs to be 3 console generations back or more, so PS2 is now officially retro lol.

I loved FF7, 8, 9 and 10 but really didn't like the battle system on 12 and never really returned to the genre until last year when I decided to finally beat FF8.

I think the first RPG I ever played was Zelda 2, often described as the only RPG Zelda game. Another one that took me 20 years to finally beat.

My brother is a big fan though an I loved watching him play the likes of Star Ocean and .Hack growing up.

Final Fantasy X... that's weird. Here in Italy is probably the most popular FF ever along with 8 (since that was the first one being translated in Italian) and everyone was (and is) super hyped about it. I played it and... ok, it's fun but I didn't fell in love that much, mainly for the whole world building and atmosphere (which was great, just not my style). So for me it was more "in real time", with everyone saying it was such a great game and I didn't share the same entushiasm.

Damn, more than 1 job? You're tough :D and I'm glad to hear it's almost over. Be strong! The good part is that having 1 job on will be like a walk in the park for you!

I played FF12 back in the day but I wasn't amazed that much. I mean, the gameplay is great but I thought it lacked some personality. I keep hearing that Zodiac Age almost made it into a completely different game though, is it true? Octopath Traveller must be SO great, I do love that style... and Chrono Trigger on the Switch would be great.

Wait, 60 bucks for a digital version? What the heck-

Yeah, I'm like 4 hours into the game and basically it's still the prologue lol but i don't mind. Well, now I do understand how the game can last for more than 100 hours, it may pass as a visual novel sometimes :D

Exaggerating. That's the exact word. Many games are masterpieces, but when you hear about them looks like it's a life-changing experience.
One of my fav games is Super Metroid, its level design is practically flawless and it's hella fun. It's in my top 10 because I played it without anybody telling me their opinion about it and it grew on me naturally: if I had heard people naming it "an experience so great to the point no other game will feel that amazing" prior to playing the game, well, I think that the games would have been spoiled for me. Did somehow similar happen to you?

And this is also why I thought that Earthbound was quite a different game, probably the urban legends around it became somehow more popular than the actual game itself.

9 hours for 6 days? Fuck, that's insane. I'm sorry to hear that... and yeah, my backlog is huge. I even got an Excel file where I'm taking notes ahah I miss many JRPGS because... well, their length doesn't help.

We Happy Few definitely has a PC-vibe. But probably that's just me associating first person to computers because I'm old at heart :D

I started Persona 5 yesterday and so far looks fun (I just dived a few hours into it). And I should get back to Dark Souls after I find the courage. I would also love to play Xenogears, but I have to figure out how to sort it out (NTSC game from the 90's on a PAL console with new TV? I'm not a huge fan of PS1 emulators but that's probably the only solution I can go for). What about you? Do you already know what to play next?

Sadly I know about hack, I always found the first 2 games only! I've never even seen the other titles, I assume that until they put them on the store it won't be possible to play them legally.

In all this I just finished Persona 3. I kinda knew the ending already but I didn't expect to end it in this way! The pacing of the story isn't that great imho, but the last part? Top notch, just blows the rest of the story out of the wter.

And yeah, about spoilers I feel you about Earthbound, my first retrogaming memories are about the infamous ending. Which also lured me into thinking that the game alternated cute and creepy moments, actually it's really light hearted, exception made for the very last part.

It's so nice you used to bond with your mom in this way! The literal opposte happened to me, during university years I barely had time to play, while now it's way better. Or maybe I got better at scheduling, who knows :D

I'm mainly a consoles guy, when I end up playing on PC is because of emulators or indie games. But i've never been that much into RTS or typical PC genres - this doesn't mean I didn't play them, though.

What about you? Mainly consoles?
