One person I am obsessed with at the moment is Emerson Barrett. He is the youngest of a trio brother band, and the drummer for Palaye Royale. His artwork and whole aesthetic is incredible. And God, I love the fuck out of his face.

My goal someday is to deck out my office with this style of artwork, and to eventually live out my best and most pretentious form of life. For now I am way too broke :( In other veins and arteries in a completely different area of my body, Ashnikko is doing amazing things. You can catch me throwing a tantrum to "Tantrum" almost any day, but "Daisy" is good too. I started out listening to "Special" and of course "Hi It's Me". I highly encourage that you check her out if you like brat-pop. And yeah, I said BRAT. Other artists that I love are Danny Elfman (Who's currently releasing a new track and video every 11th day of the month this year), I Don't Know How But They Found Me , Nightmare of You , Mother Mother , etc.

This could have gone into the music category, but the album Danger Days from My Chemical Romance was like having God himself spit into my mouth. So good. It rescued me during a time of my life that I felt hopeless and trapped, and luckily I was able to try and reinvent myself and start over because of it.

When I was in early high school My Chemical Romance was becoming a big, mainstream thing; one of my best friends promoted MyChem to me and I liked the overall look, but I wasn't watching a lot of television or listening to music at that time. (I mostly liked the song "Dead!" because we used to play it on Guitar Hero together.) It appealed to high schoolers probably because of the high school motif in their "I'm Not Okay" video (this is a current karaoke fav), but Gerard Way was over 30 at the time.

He truly is a personal hero of mine. I listened to "Hesitant Alien" when it came out, and didn't love it at first, but kept it on repeat until I warmed into it. Then I kept up with his singles that he released, and generally fell in love with this person. I identified with his sadness, and his desire to violently self-actualize. I loved the thread that went through the My Chemical Romance songs and into his solo work of not giving up on your dreams. Some of lyrics were lyrics I kept close to my heart, like from "Pinkish" when he said 'this dream is calling your name. and if we hold on our dreams might be okay. and holding on, our dreams come true someday.'
