About me:

Hello!
My name is James, you can call me solar though. I'm a 16-year-old amateur radio enthusiast who got into amateur radio at a very young age because of my great uncle Jerry when I talked on his ham radio when visiting him in Michigan with my family.
I've been wanting to get my amateur radio license for a while, but I never had the time until now. As of 03/03/2026, I have my amateur radio license and can finally pursue my favorite hobby.
I'm a Colorado native. I was born in Aurora, Colorado, on 02/22/2010, and have lived here with my great-grandparents, my great-aunt, and my father ever since. My mother was born in a small town outside Louisville Kentucky, but moved to Colorado when she was 10. I've traveled to lots of places, both stateside and abroad, but I have to say the UK countryside is my favorite: small towns, fields as far as the eye can see. But driving on the left side freaks me out a bit. I've been to every state, (Including driving through), the UK, Mexico, and Canada. State-wise, Alaska is my favorite, the scenery, the smell, the sights, all amazing.
Thanks to N1OF for jumpstarting my HF journey, and the Ham Radio Crash Course community for enabling me to pursue my ham radio shenanigans. Currently, I'm using a Yeasu FT-897D with a dual band (VHF UHF) 21-inch steel whip antenna, along with a 9:1 EFRW powered by a standard 30A 13.8V Switching power supply.
I am mostly active on SpaceHey, and the KB0UDD, K0PRA, W0WYX, and KB0VJJ (Colorado Connection) Repeaters. I look forward to making contacts with you!
