══════════════════════════ “Ain’t much to say about me. Never was good with words.” Guess this place wants you to write somethin’ about yourself. Don’t really know how to do that. Some folks got stories that fill whole rooms when they talk. Me… I mostly keep quiet. Easier that way. I been the kind of man that spends more time lookin’ at mountains than people. Long days. Cold mornings. Dust in your boots that never really comes out. The kinda life where your hands stay rough no matter how hard you scrub ‘em clean. Truth is, I don’t fit much anywhere. Never did. Cities make me nervous. Too loud. Too many lights. Too many people tryin’ to be seen. I’d rather be somewhere the wind sounds louder than voices. Somewhere you can sit outside at night with a cigarette burnin’ slow between your fingers while the sky stretches out forever above you. There’s somethin’ honest about lonely places. I like old roads. Rusted trucks. Campfires burnin’ low after midnight. The sound horses make when they get restless before rain comes in. Coffee boiled too long over a fire. Worn denim jackets. Country songs playin’ quiet through radio static while the sun disappears behind hills. Some memories stay with a man longer than they should. Don’t matter how far he drives or how much time passes. They settle inside your bones. Become part of the silence. Folks say I look angry all the time. Maybe tired’s the better word. Tired of people expectin’ things. Tired of feelin’ like there’s somethin’ wrong with wantin’ a simple life. Sometimes all a man wants is a quiet place to breathe and somebody who understands him without askin’ too many questions. Ain’t sure why I’m writin’ all this. Maybe because nights get long sometimes. Maybe because certain things never leave you. ══════════════════════════
