I was angry with my friend
I spoke, and my wrath soon end
I was angry with my foe:
I hid it deep - I let it grow
And I waterd it in silent night
With fears I dared not bring to light
And it sunned it with a wicked smile
And watched it thicken all the while
And it grew both day and night
Till it bore a fruit of blight
And twisted branches stretched with glee
A gallows hung from my hate fed tree

He crept beneath it thinking it mine
And in the dark with rope in hand
He met the fate my wrath had planned
