.·°Tangy°·.'s Interests

General

6 years ago, I stopped doing judo and started playing tennis. I was really impressed by the sport: the tactics and reaction, you needed, weren’t like any other related sport. Now I’ve grown and in multiple tournaments I’ve defeated number one players and won a couple of trophies. Besides sports I’m really into music. I began with piano, but, when introduced to, I switched to playing bass guitar, which I play for almost 2 years now. Furthermore , I like writing tiny stories, sketching fantasy worlds or making up cruel murder stories. Since Middle School I’ve started writing really amateur poetry, yet I still enjoy doing it. You can find me doing crafts, reading or wandering through vintage stores.

Music

I’m interested in punk (soft/garage/pop-punk), pop (indie/pop-punk) and jazz and bossanova music, but I’m fine with everything a person suggests to put on. When I was little I was really interested in pop music, but my taste slowly seems to shift towards more rougher genres. Besides I’m really in love with small artists from the Netherlands. The country is famous for the party music, with lame melodies and over-sexualised or love-inspired lyrics. But, I discovered national artists that really put effort in their songs. I’m really proud to show people what I found. To the right I have some albums I like, alternating between English and Dutch artists.

Movies

I’m really bad at choosing movies, so my dad does. This really influenced my likings in movies. I’m more into old movies: horror and thriller. One of my favorites is Copycat, a classic thriller about a serial killer. Also with newer movies I mostly enjoy thriller and horror. I love films like Talk to me, Us, Cobweb, and so on.

Television

Growing up, I mostly watched Cartoon Network (CN), making me adore their TV series (The amazing world of Gumball, Steven Universe, Uncle Grandpa, Adventure Time, We bare bears, and more). Sometimes I still catch myself wanting to rewatch some of those childhood series. Now I watch the news, like a boring person, or do I look at some brainless dating or cop series to relax. I’m absolutely obsessed with Cowboy Bebop<3 bmoo bounce

Books

UNDER CONSTRUCTION:)

Heroes

If you didn’t noticed yet I’m totally in love with Animal Crossing (Bones, my pookie <3). I’m almost a year into working on my forestcore island. I also like games like Zelda, Minecraft and some Mario games. Sometimes I play mobile games, which one of them, An Elwood Trail, is my favorite. In my free time you can find me playing online games, well I skip horror games (yet I like horror movies?!) and only enjoy seeing other people playing them (almost similar to an horror movie, right?) https://external-media.spacehey.net/media/saLgZzcJ7RzftO-U9OxvQMLne2y_ZvEkCAW72LzXSDuA=/https://i.pinimg.com/originals/62/43/f2/6243f26861e59c22cf8f2e52f7fd3a5b.gif

About me:

Heya guys! I’m Tangy, but you may also call me Marin. I originate from the Netherlands, where I live in a smaller city between The Hague and Amsterdam, 15 minutes away from the beach. People call me a straight-A student, beloved school band bassist, and realistic and creative writer. Well I’m still in my mid-teen years I already have big dreams for future days, as I already dream about music and writing careers. On the contrary, I’m still learning how to do maths in High School (Middle School in Dutch) and working in a cafe, serving customers their coffee and lunches. From a personal perspective, I see myself as a positive, warm person and an absolute people pleaser, eventhough I’ve got mood swings and can be a bit snappy at someone sometimes (but don’t worry! ;D). I’m really excited and curious to explore SpaceHey, meet new friends from around the world, and share blogs to the public! Cute pixel art scenery

Who I'd like to meet:

I’m open to all people under the age of 18, who’d like to make a new friend or someone to message with. I can listen, I can talk, just ask! Any questions are welcome if they’re relevant and appropriate. People interested in music, writing, poetry, films and TV series, ethical issues, philosophy or just casual conversation are welcome! (You can always instant message me!)

Some extra information on the Dutch albums!

[1]“Smartlap” doesn’t have a direct meaning in English, but it means a song that would exist for all eternity, singing about great things in life. “Smartlap Is Niet Dood” mean “The song for life isn’t dead”. The album is full of songs with popular melodies and harsh, political, feminist lyrics.

[2]“Alles Anders” means “Everything different”. The songs are clearly pop, but there’s a hint of something mysterious in the tone of some songs, giving the album a whole different vibe.

[3]“Het is een Wies” just means “It is a Wies (the band name)”. This album uses the classic instrument in a band with some electronic adds. The songs feel melancholic, not only the chords and tones, but also the lyrics about leaving things in the past bring up feelings.

[4]“drift” means the exact same as in English “drift”. The songs are soothing: some have delicate guitar melodies, some inspiring lyrics. Some have a little more spice, but are a lot simpler. This balance creates a nice listening experience.

[5] “Troostprijs” means “Consolation prise”. I personally think this is maybe a bit too of a pop album, but I think some songs have a real vibe. One of my favorite bass line is in this album. I love how bold her music is and she doesn’t cares about the appropriateness of her lyrics.

[6] “platland” translates to “Flat land”, which is the perfect word to describe the Netherlands. The album discusses hatred and frustration, racism, sexism, homophobia and more. The songs describe these subjects in powerful rap lyrics and weird melodies.

[7] “Naar De Haaien En Weer Terug” directly translates “To the sharks and back again”, but means “To rampage and back again”. The songs are purely electronic and lean more into dance music. I think it’s peak Dutch music to play in clubs.

[8] “Noodzakelijk Verdriet” means “Necessary sadness”. I’m the biggest fanboy of this artist (she’s amazing). Some songs are electronic, some are acoustic. The songs alter between sad and warm songs. She describes pain in love, sadness in content, hatred in yourself and shame in confidence.
