hmm if you haven't already, listen to Talking Heads. they've been my favourite band for years now. i like Speaking in Tongues a lot. it sounds different to any other Heads album up to that point. its really funky and groovy. there's not a bad song on there. additionally during this time period was the Stop Making Sense tour & concert movie. worth a watch if you haven't seen it. one may never truly know how much coke they were doing during these years.. i also like Frank Zappa's album Apostrophe ('). very weird songs with some nice guitar work
for s omethhing less known i have been enjoying Land of the Loops. its a lot of samples and loops, sort of instrumental electronic trip hop/hip hop and plunderphonics. i'd suggest starting with the album Bundle of Joy
