I had a trip planned for New York and Covid ruined that. The world shut down the week before I was able to go. I was devestated.

It has been going well. We made a spontaneous trip to Colorado the day after I landed. It was incredible out there but it was a short trip, just a long ass ride.

I had three trips I wanted to make.
We went to Nashville literally in the midst of the chaos and then we were gonna go to New York two weeks later. Thankfully we were able to make one trip. My third was gonna be a solo trip to Canada in July. I was so upset.

I did,however, had my solo trip in April to Portland and it was fantastic and now I'm on my second trip of the year and it had the unexpected trip to Colorado so I am not mad.

I am gonna have to look up that restaurant and see what it is about. We didn't spend long there but it was filled with lots of adventure.

Taking it wayyyyy back.
I enjoy learning about World War 2. I lived in Okinawa, Japan and I got to learn about it in a different way. Seeing the way the war impacted that small island was a real eye opener when I was a child.

I agree. WW2 was a very difficult time indeed, The first time I watched “ grave of the fireflies” by studio ghibli made me think of all the hurtful events families had to go through during that time. It’s actually very sad to just go back and look in to it.

I haven't ever seen that movie. I will have to find it. It was horrendous what those families had to endure. Okinawa isn't a very big island but the history is rich and bitter.

I'll check it out. I need met a woman who survived the war at the age of 6. She wrote a book and we read it then got to meet her. It was very eye-opening. She was young and alone and was able to make it out alive. The book was powerful. It brought us to tears. Her story is one that I will never forget.

What’s the name? I remember back when I was young there was a story by the name “farewell to manzanar” , It was about a camp in California where they had Japanese families from war. Theywere considered prisoners of war on that certain time. That’s awesome you were able to talk to a survivor. I bet it’s something that marked you for the rest of your life huh?

Girl with the White Flag. I don't know her name off the top of my head but it shouldn't be a hard find.
I remember learning about the concentration camps they put Japanese citizens in because of the war. Their foolish prejudices and phobias created a mass panic. Heinous acts against humans who had nothing to do with the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
The Japanese were terrible to their own people in Okinawa, so much so that they don't like being called Japanese. They are called Okinawans, to call them anything else is offensive. The soldiers lied to them about Americans and said they would be raped and murdered by them. They have a cliff called Suicide Cliff, now it is called Peace Prayer Park, where many jumped. Women threw their children over and then themselves. It was a cruel war. Japanese soldiers would hole up with civilians in these caves and allow gunfire and gases to be thrown into the caves to kill everyone. When they would search after the commotion, they found hundreds of young school girls and nurses dead.
Her story was so heart wrenching. It did mark me. It is something even after 18 years since being on Okinawa, I can never forget the things I learned about the island's history.
I will have to search that book. I don't normally read non-fiction books because the world is cruel enough without having to read true stories of people who went through horrible tragedies. I prefer imagination to reality when reading. It doesn't keep me up at night wondering how unjust and wrong people have been treated.

Yes indeed those times were tragic, it shows how human life can be treated as something with no importance, I have seen documentaries of these horrors so I’m aware of all this. Some of these cases are very important as they may show how things should not be taken for granted and how life is precious and one should cherish it.

With the abundance of hatred in many hearts only those who know suffering can change the world we live in. I'm hoping one day people are able to see all lives are precious. That war and unnecessary killings diminish and cease to exist. One can only hope. It won't be in my lifetime. Maybe not the next. Just hope it's possible. For future generations.

I sauteed up some yellow bell pepper, red onion and mushrooms with red pepper flakes. Fried an egg. Chopped up some green onion and added Sesame Seeds. Oh, and, of course, a slice of cheese.

Brie has to be left out for 45 minutes or so before serving. A nice grilled brie sandwich with tomatoes, spinach/basil, grainy mustard and a little mayo on 12 nut grain bread is Divine! Or stuffed in mushrooms with lots of garlicky goodness. Or with fruit like apples, cranberries, blueberries and grapes.
