Nicole Aguilar's Interests
General |
I have a deep love for reading, writing, and exploring ideas that challenge and expand my understanding of the world. I’m drawn to philosophy, psychology, and history, but I also find inspiration in poetry, fiction, and mythology. Art, in all its forms, captivates me—whether it’s film, painting, music, or storytelling, I appreciate the ways creativity expresses the depth of human experience. Nature is another source of connection and renewal for me; I find peace in the ocean, the cycles of the moon, and the quiet wisdom of the earth. I’m also fascinated by metaphysical and esoteric traditions, from astrology and tarot to energy work and ancient spiritual practices. Whether through intellectual exploration or intuitive experience, I seek meaning, beauty, and transformation in the world around me. |
Music |
My taste in music is as eclectic as my interests, spanning from the elegance of classical symphonies and the grandeur of opera to the electrifying intensity of metal and the smooth nostalgia of yacht rock. I have a deep appreciation for storytelling in music, whether through the theatrical flair of show tunes or the intricate compositions of orchestral pieces. I find beauty in contrast—soaring arias and shredding guitar solos, delicate sonatas and anthemic rock ballads. Music, in all its forms, is a source of inspiration, emotion, and expression, and I love exploring the vast spectrum of sound that bridges genres and eras. |
Movies |
I have a deep love for movies, especially those that blend rich storytelling with striking visuals and unforgettable characters. Some of my all-time favorites—Batman (1989), From Dusk Till Dawn, and The Wizard of Oz—reflect my appreciation for dark, stylish worlds, unexpected twists, and a touch of the fantastical. Horror is my go-to genre, whether it’s a psychological thriller, a supernatural tale, or a cult classic dripping with camp and gore. I love the way horror pushes boundaries, explores the unknown, and taps into deeper fears and desires. When asked what I want to watch, my answer almost always leans toward something eerie, thrilling, or delightfully unsettling. |
Television |
Admittedly, I don’t watch too much television. Every so often, I’ll get into a new series, but I don’t often find myself committing to long-running shows. When I do turn on the TV, I tend to gravitate toward documentaries, drawn to the way they uncover hidden histories, explore human psychology, or shed light on fascinating real-world events. That said, I do have a few favorites that I return to time and time again—ER and Californication hold a special place for me. ER satisfies my love for gripping, character-driven drama, while Californication pulls me in with its sharp writing, dark humor, and flawed but compelling protagonist. No matter how many times I’ve seen them, they always feel like comfort watches in their own unique way. |
Books |
Still thinking about this prompt... I'll follow up with a list. |
Heroes |
I have looked up to many people in my life, but to call them heroes would be false. As cheesy as it sounds, I am my own favorite hero. I have pulled myself out of the darkest pits of despair and transformed more times than I can articulate here. Through every setback, I’ve learned to tap into my own resilience, finding strength in places I didn’t know existed. There’s a certain power in knowing that I am capable of navigating life’s challenges and reinventing myself again and again. I don’t need someone else’s narrative to define my worth; my story, full of growth, struggle, and triumph, is enough. |

About me:
I am a philosophical thinker who explores the intersections of philosophy, psychology, and spirituality. I challenge societal and spiritual constructs surrounding relationships, offering unique and thought-provoking perspectives that invite deeper reflection. With a blend of empathy and analytical insight, I seek to reframe and expand the spiritual and psychological practices that nurture healthier, more supportive connections—with ourselves, others, nature, and the Universe. I believe that developing self-awareness is the first step toward higher consciousness and more meaningful relationships, both within and beyond the self. In my academic writing within the liberal arts and humanities, particularly in the fields of philosophy, social sciences, psychology, history, and religion, I strive to extend the conversation beyond personal introspection. By examining these disciplines, I explore the interconnectedness between our inner growth and the broader societal and historical contexts. Critical thinking and the ability to see these connections allow us to make more informed and thoughtful decisions, fostering positive change on both individual and collective levels. Through sharing this part of my work, I invite readers to consider how our personal journeys can inspire meaningful transformation in the world around us, encouraging a collective movement toward progress and positive impact. I am a unique blend of depth, intensity, and adaptability, shaped by my metaphysical alignment and a strong inner drive for transformation and healing. As a Reiki Master, I feel deeply connected to energy work, always motivated by the need to create balance and well-being not just for myself but for those around me. My Scorpio Sun fuels my emotional depth and passion, pushing me to dig beneath the surface and facilitate meaningful transformation—both within myself and in others. With my Gemini Moon, I am emotionally adaptable and intellectually curious, always eager to explore different perspectives and communicate ideas with ease. My Virgo Rising helps me project a grounded and practical presence, often channeling my energy into refining details and supporting others through organization and acts of service. As a 2/4 Manifesting Generator in Human Design, I thrive on both initiating and responding quickly, adapting to new circumstances, and turning ideas into tangible results. I am both a doer and a thinker, constantly balancing action with reflection. My Life Path 8 fuels my ambition and leadership, giving me a strong sense of responsibility and a desire to create lasting impact. As an individualist and reformer, I am always looking for ways to improve systems and structures, especially in the areas that matter most to me. Being an INFJ-T, I am guided by a deep sense of purpose and compassion, even through inner conflict, as I work to bring vision, harmony, and transformation to the world around me.
Who I'd like to meet:
If I could meet anyone, both living and dead, I'd want to sit down with minds that challenge, inspire, and expand my understanding of the world. I’d love to have a conversation with Carl Jung about archetypes, the collective unconscious, and the spiritual dimensions of psychology. Simone de Beauvoir would be an incredible person to engage with, particularly on existentialism, feminism, and the structures that shape intellectual and societal roles. I can only imagine the depth of insight Juana Inés de la Cruz would offer on knowledge, gender, and divinity, especially given how much I already admire The Poet’s Reply. I’d want to hear Hannah Arendt’s thoughts on power and totalitarianism, particularly in the context of white supremacy and modern work environments. Rainer Maria Rilke would be another dream conversation—I’d love to discuss poetry, solitude, and transformation with someone who so beautifully articulated the human experience. Nietzsche would be an intense but fascinating encounter; I imagine a discussion with him on individualism, power, and meaning would either inspire me or leave me reeling (or both). Audre Lorde’s words on identity and resistance have shaped so much of my perspective, and I’d love to hear her reflections on self-expression as a form of activism. James Baldwin’s ability to weave history, psychology, and personal experience into critiques of race and identity would make for an unforgettable dialogue. Meeting Pier Paolo Pasolini would allow me to blend my interests in modernism, media, and cultural critique with my background in post-production. And then there’s María Sabina, the Mazatec curandera, whose wisdom on healing, spirituality, and language would be a rare and sacred encounter. Among the living, I’d be honored to meet Brené Brown—her research on vulnerability, shame, and leadership deeply resonates with my work on hustle culture and psychological wellness. Cornel West’s brilliance in philosophy, politics, and spirituality would make for an incredible discussion on justice and democracy. Though she’s no longer with us, I would have loved to talk to Gloria Anzaldúa about mestiza consciousness and the complexities of identity, especially as a white-presenting Latina. bell hooks, if she were still alive, would have been another must-meet—her insights on love, feminism, and power continue to shape my thinking. Angela Davis would be another powerhouse of wisdom, particularly on systemic structures and work culture, while Judith Butler’s work on gender and identity would be a fascinating conversation. On the more metaphysical and creative side, I’d love to exchange ideas with Esther Perel about relationships, desire, and human psychology. Marina Abramović’s work in performance art and endurance would give me so much to reflect on, especially in terms of transformation and metaphysical experience. I’d also love to sit down with some of today’s leading thinkers in astrology and tarot—people like Chani Nicholas, Jessica Lanyadoo, or Demetra George—who have helped bridge the gap between mysticism and psychology in a way that deeply resonates with me. And finally, I think Alok Vaid-Menon would be an incredible person to meet—their insights on gender, self-expression, and the power of language would be so enriching. There are so many minds I’d love to engage with—poets, philosophers, mystics, and disruptors who see the world through a lens of transformation. Each of them, in their own way, would push me to think deeper, feel more profoundly, and expand my own understanding of what it means to exist, to create, and to challenge the structures that shape us.
