Ted Kaczynski, known as the Unabomber, is an American mathematician and domestic terrorist responsible for a series of bombings between 1978 and 1995. Over nearly two decades, he sent a series of explosive devices via mail to various individuals, causing deaths and serious injuries. His name is synonymous with one of the most notorious cases of domestic terrorism in the United States.

The Unabomber:

Motivation: Over the years, Kaczynski developed a deep resentment toward technology and industrial progress. In his manifesto titled Industrial Society and Its Future, published in 1995, he argued that technological advancement and the growth of industrial civilization were responsible for destroying human freedom and autonomy, and that only a return to a more primitive life could save humanity.

Bombings: Between 1978 and 1995, Kaczynski sent a series of mail bombs to academics, businesspeople, and individuals associated with technological development. These bombings resulted in several deaths and many more injuries.

Capture: In 1996, after the Washington Post and New York Times published his manifesto, Kaczynski was identified by his brother, who recognized his writing style. He was arrested in April 1996 and later pled guilty to 13 murders and 23 bombings.


Sentence:

Kaczynski was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is serving his sentence in a high-security prison.


Legacy:
