About me:

Above me, the sky stretched vast and indifferent, a muted grey smeared with the first hints of twilight. Tiny snowflakes drifted down in spirals, landing on my cooling skin. They seemed so gentle, so peaceful. This cold wasn't just physical, it's gnawing through flesh and bone and into the core of me. I wondered if this was how it happened- if dying was supposed to feel like slowly ceasing to belong to yourself. My fingers were the first to disappear, swallowed up by numbness, but I didn't miss them. My arms followed, then my legs, each one fading until they were just shapes, distant and irrelevant. As if they weren't even mine.
