ajmetz's Interests

General

2023 Spacehey: I love making media in conjunction with the public - by audiences for audiences, =). Am most passionate about print magazines, and also enjoy making videos and websites. I've also written 42 songs I hope to produce one day, and need to work with musicians to achieve that when time and money allows, =).

I use Lotus Ami Pro and Adobe InDesign to make magazines. I use Perl, HTML, CSS and [had to remove the J word to get this to post] to make websites. I use Media 100 Suite video editing software to make videos.

From my 2009 MySpace Profile:
Ankles, ankle bones, protruding ankle bones, Transformers, fanzines, media, underground media, subcultures, fan communities, alternative journalism, videogames, videogames journalism, content licensing, desktop publishing, DTP, layout design, advert design, Web Design, CGI, email, writing, typing, magazines, publishing, distribution, wholesale, newstand, circulation, print, printing, litho, prepress, finishing, academia, philosophy, Video Editing, media100, media 100, media 100i, after effects, borisfx, Titles and Graphics, dvd, authoring, replication, globalisation, entrepreneurial, entrepreneurialism, enterprise, business, business plans, cashflow, networking, music, dancing, clubbing, human beatboxing, mixing genres, music composition, keyboards, music keyboards, MIDI composition, XG, MIDI, MIDI XG, DB50XG, XG Gold, Phatboy, AWE32, Apple Mac, Apple, Mac, brainstorming, dreams, creativity, design, inflatables, events, etc.

Music

2023 Spacehey: Right now I probably enjoy Sophie Villy's music the most - her recent songs have offered sympathy to Ukrainians, as well as celebrated motherhood, =D. <3. I consider myself very lucky to have been to most of The Bloom Twins' London gigs since 2013 - I prefer their earlier trip-hoppy innovative stuff to their later generic pop. Was also in the audience when Mallrat performed in London, which was amazing, =). I play keyboard, and enjoy songs that mix genres, =).

From my 2009 MySpace Profile:
UPDATE#2: Brownstudy:All Aces, Detroit Electronic Quarterly, Pirahnahead, Randolph, Aaron Carl, Mike Grant, Whasdat, and other detroit stuff.

Hanne Hukkelberg, Dirty Diggers, Steve Spacek, DJ Spinna, Vigilante Hardcore(Sy&Seduction;)

UPDATE: Sirius Mo - Warum bist du gegangen, Immer Wielder, etc. Bilal - All for Love, and the usual Gilles Peterson stuff. KPM Trigger Happy stuff by Toby Bricheno and Jan Cryka

PREVIOUS: Changes all the time.
But OldSkool Happy Hardcore, HardDance, etc, Also now into Gilles Peterson worldwide, and chilled out urban. Appreciating Detroit House at the moment, because it's so soulful, and enjoying clips of Mahogani Music and Nikki-O.
So, funky house, I guess, although I've never been a house fan prior...always prefered the breakbeats and speed of hardcore, jungle, drum'n'bass, and the style of Speed Garage.
On a rock level, I like Delakota, Stella Maris, and have recently been listening to Portland's Garmonbozia aka BlitzenTrapper.
Always liked merging genres, and so enough respect to Sunshot - now known as Venus Inc - Maria and Toby manage to merge dance music with guitars, and it works a treat. ;-)
Rarely buy CDs, but the last I've got were: Matthew Herbert's Bodily Functions, Liz Fields' By Day by Night, and now I've just got Mahogani Music: Various - a compilation featuring extensive Nikki-O material. Worldwide!

On a underground level, a lot of my friends & contacts produce music, so respect to:

Movies

2023 Spacehey: Princess Mononoke is my favourite movie, =). Beyond that, I don't watch movies much these days. I know someone called Lyle, so was tempted to watch Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, ^_^. I love videogames, so am keen to see the Sonic movies at some point, and looking forwards to the new Mario movie coming out later this year, =).

From my 2009 MySpace Profile:

Update: Toni Takitani - saw half of it on Film Four...lovely film, albeit a bit melancholy

Princess Mononoke
StarChaser: The Legend of Orin
Evangelion
Moroder's reinterpretation of Fritz Lang's Metropolis

Something I taped on Channel 4 or BBC 2 one night, of some guy called Billie who gets out of prison, and goes about his everday life, but interferes with some guy called Tommy who has built up a business out of selling stolen goods. Can anyone tell me what this British film is called? It might be Scream, or Joyride, or something like that....
UPDATE: It's called "Shopping" made in 1994, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, starring Jude Law and Saddie Frost. Thanks imdb!

Some of the recent shorts on BBC2's HomeGrown Hollywood.

And the following shorts I saw ..:
All for Eight Pounds Fifty
Losers
Russell Square
The Score
....and a bunch of others I can't recall now, but they're all on virtuetv or atomfilmz.

Television

Socialhey 2023: I mainly watch Youtube - Aljazeera English, DW News, Matt McMuscles - Wha' Happened, LazyGameReviews, Linus Tech Tips, Sega Lord X, etc... basically, anything videogames, current affairs, journalism, tech, etc. Simone Heng's videos are also great - all about human connections!

Documentaries
Neon Genesis Evangelion
BBC News 24
Channel 4 News

Nathan Barley
South Park
The Simpsons
Family Guy
All the usual sitcoms, etc....am getting bored with this list now....

Books

Socialhey 2023:
I love magazines - Monocle, InPublishing, MCV/Develop - so read them more than books. Have left Uni and no longer have as much access to academic books. Would love to know what media students get taught these days, now the internet is a thing, =).
I appreciate Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People and Frederick Herzberg's One More Time: How to motivate Employees?

From my 2009 MySpace Profile:
Love Academia - so Adorno, Zizek, French, Thornton, Zimbardo, Chomsky, Klein, etc....will fill this one in properly later.

Heroes

I think my friend Christina Antipova is the most beautiful woman on earth.
I think my best friend Martina Anzinger is the kindest soul on earth, and is the reason I maintain faith in humanity, =).

ajmetz's Blurbs

About me:

Happy to be exploring Spacehey =).

My messages are open to everyone, so feel free to drop a message! =).

My profile is a mess - I hope to improve it later today.
P.S. The interests section content is lifted from my old Myspace profile circa 2009, so all the music, movies, etc, are totally a time capsule of what my tastes were then...and I need to add some newer stuff.

One of my fav Sophie Villy tracks:

Who I'd like to meet:

My old MySpace friends - and anyone happy to be a new SpaceHey friend, =D!

If interested in being friends, please write a message, as I only add people I either know already or have interacted with in some way - i.e. if we've messaged.
