i was on myspace back in the day and honestly i just miss the vibes, so i’m here trying to recreate a little of that. i want somewhere that isn’t run by an algorithm and doesn’t pretend everything is fine. i like talking about cultural analysis both critically and pop culturally, autism, gender, mental health, disability, class, and what supports actually looks like in real life. i also get an unreasonable amount of joy out of tinkering with html and rearranging pixels. offline, i’m into low-effort hiking/short walks, being near water, sitting outside when it’s not disgusting out (it's humid here), and traveling when i can afford it. also here for media debriefs, dog updates, niche memes, and low-stakes friendship with people who can handle whatever i’m currently overanalyzing . i’m bad at keeping up with constant IMs and “reply right away” culture; i do better with occasional check-ins, comments, and bulletins than daily back-and-forth,
so please don’t take slow replies personally.

the scholarly neglect of Black autistic adults

journal: Autism in Adulthood (IF: 9.5)

A lot of autism research pretends to speak for everyone while using almost entirely white samples; our paper called out that erasure directly and argues that the field can’t claim to understand autistic adulthood while systematically excluding Black autistic adults. We offer concrete ways for researchers to shift from “unintentional neglect” to actually building work with Black autistic adults rather than about them.
