౨ৎ lian ☆	1716752342 Me and Kawai have had this secret hideout for a while in between our houses that nobody else knows about, especially not Tau because it gets a little tiring being with Tau every time I'm with Kawai. It's at a beach where the water glows and crabs roam around freely because we re the only humans- except I guess Kawai is a shark- there. The water flows a little into the cave so that Kawai can go swimming and I can just put my toes in because nobody ever taught me to swim. He'd bring me stuff sometimes like bracelets and jewelry, and I'd keep them in a box in my room but never wear them because I don't want Mwanzi to get suspicious. We went there all the time and we'd just sit and talk or sometimes just I'd talk and we did that up until he bit me and hopped out the window and didn't visit for weeks. I notice when Kawai takes the smaller crabs home, even though he thinks I don't. I don't know what he does with them but I assume he eats them when I'm not around because he knows I like them. I don't think I'd ever eat a crab, especially the big box crabs that are there sometimes, but I hope they taste good. I don't know what kind of luck came upon me that both of us were there on the same day after we hadn't seen each other for weeks, but we did. I don't remember what we talked about but it was probably something stupid that little boys talk about. We'll talk about anything, really. Anything but love. Except we did. Kawai started talking and he didn't stop until someone said. "I love you", and someone said it back. I don't know why I said it because I know I shouldn't have. If I was a crab, I would've buried myself in the sand like the crabs there were doing, and I wouldn't have faced him ever again. And I guess we started kissing or something, because I think those were the best few seconds of my life even if it shouldn't have happened at all. Or maybe it wasn't a few seconds, I wasn't paying attention. I should never have done that because boys don't kiss other boys, and I'd rather eat a crab than do something that horrible again, but I guess I enjoyed it. We left after that, because I don't think either of us could have stayed there much longer. I only looked back once because I don't think I'll ever be able to look him in the eye again. I had made him promise not to ever tell anyone, but I hope he did because then it's not as bad that when I couldn't hear his footsteps anymore I ran as fast as I could home and I didn't stop running, I ran straight to Mwanzi. Telling Mwanzi was a stupid decision because Mwanzi says snitches get their claws torn off. But I still told him because he knows things. I told him about how I kissed this boy and it was stupid and wrong but the best thing that I'd ever experienced. I just talked and talked and talked. He didn't say anything. He didn't say anything when he started hitting me and I covered my face in shame like the big box crabs at the beach where I kissed Kawai. He hit me harder than he'd ever hit me before, because I guess he usually goes easy on me. But he wasn't now, he was hitting me with real anger. He didn't stop when I screamed and he didn't when I started crying. I shouldn't have cried because he d think I'm a pussy. He didn't stop when there was blood on my shirt like the red spots on the big box crabs at the beach where I kissed Kawai, calappa calappa. It would have been better if it was Kawai hitting me, because he was actually involved and Mwanzi wasn't. But I still didn't fight back Even when he hit me hard enough I thought my bones would shatter. I didn't fight back because it's my fault for kissing a guy when guys aren't supposed to do that. I don't know why they're not but Mwanzi says they're not so they aren't. My body ached and my throat hurt and my face was red and there was lots of blood that smelled like metal and wouldn't come out of my clothes very easily, but he kept hitting me. I think he hates me. He probably hit me until I was unconscious and even more after because when I woke up he was gone, but the taste of Kawai's lips weren't. I wish it was Kawai that had hit me.
