βthe tally hall history |
Andrew Horowitz, one of the only members not originally from Michigan, began writing songs when he was eight years old, and attended the University of Michigan, studying composition. There he met Rob Cantor, who had both attended high school with Zubin Sedghi and joined Joe Hawley's film production group, AnonyMous. Tally Hall's original drummer, Steve Gallagher, left the band in May of 2004. Ross Federman, who Joe knew from high school, took his place shortly thereafter. Tally Hall performing in Philadelphia, October 2006. On October 24, 2005, the band released their debut studio album, Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, with violinist Jeremy Kittel contributing strings.[2] They re-released the album on September 12, 2006,[1] on the local label Quack! Media.[3] Tally Hall went on to receive national media attention, performing their song "Good Day" on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on August 2, 2006, as well as appearing in MTV's segment You Hear It First in September 2006.[1] The band appeared at the 2007 South by Southwest Music Festival.[4] Also in March 2007, they were signed to Atlantic Records and rerecorded their first album. They didn't release the updated version until April 1, 2008.[5] In August 2008, Tally Hall was a performer on the BMI stage at Lollapalooza.[6] Tally Hall was invited back by The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on September 16, 2008, to help promote the launch of Tally Hall's Internet Show. They performed "Welcome to Tally Hall" in newly donned black vests over top of their traditional colored ties, white shirts, and black pants.[7] The band worked on several projects after the completion of Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, including covering the song "Smile Like You Mean It" by The Killers for the sixth The O.C. soundtrack: Music from the OC: Mix 6. βthe Or Two Be history |
In the city of Edmond Oklahoma, five students would make a band that little know but little will forget. This is the story of the band Or Two Be. The first member of Or Two Be is Juno Spaulding better known as "Spaulding" from where he's from. When Juno was bored one day, he wrote a song called "the world's downfall" that would latter change to "the moons downfall". The world's downfall was a joke song about how "the world is so sh*tty" as Juno puts it. Juno showed this joke song to his ex-lover Robert Leon. Robert liked the song and suggested that him and Juno should start a band. Juno had trouble deciding a band name, so he read some books at the library. One day he stumbled across a book that had the words "or is it to be", but Juno is dyslexic and read it as "Or to be" and he thought "what if I make that the band name but changed the to to a two?", At the time Juno and Robert had a friend named Simon Richmon. Simon knew how to play bass, there for they made him the bassist. At the time Or Two Be was Juno on the keyboard, Robert on the acoustic guitar, and Simon on the bass guitar. Simon had a plan to get a second guitarist and a drummer. He would get some of his friends to join the band and play guitar and drums, the name of these two friends of Simon are named Francesca Goodings and Aaron Higgins. When the band finally came together, Robert left without warning leaving the band without a guitarist. Good thing that Simon could play the guitar and could also play the bass guitar. Or Two Be never got a new keyboardist to replace Juno who is now the bassist. Everyday is a struggle for Or Two Be to stay a band. |
