I love Spinner too! I think he had some fantastic character development. I also love the growth Manny's character had. It's a really tough to pick an all time fav. I also adore Melanie from DJH and the awkward romance she had with Snake haha

That's so crazy, I've always considered it my second favorite season too!! Haha Season 3 will always be the top one for me, but Season 12 is definitely my favorite season from the later era of Next Gen. If it weren't for that Vegas special, I think it would be a perfect season haha

season 3 was my favorite for a really long time! but in my most recent rewatch i decided 4 is actually my fave lol. i always consider seasons 10-12 the degrassi renaissance because i hate to say it but i don’t love seasons 5-9 lol. but i life season 10 and i think 12 peaks and then 13&14 are just ok (personally i think they are over-hated but not great.) i actually really like next class though. especially season 3 & 4.

Season 4 would definitely rank higher for me if it weren't for the Kevin Smith episodes haha even though I love Kevin Smith in real life. I totally agree on 10-12 being a renaissance, I remember almost losing interest around the time season 9 was airing, but then I saw the Shark in the Water video and I was sucked back in! I think season 5 is pretty good, but 6-9 was kind of a rough period, although I do have a strange affinity for the ep from season 9 where Clare starts writing vampire fiction haha. I remember absolutely despising season 13 when it first aired, but upon rewatching recently, I think it's not so bad aside from the Paris episodes. I agree with you on Next Class, I feel like it unfairly gets written off by a lot of the fans. It deserved a fifth season!

And finally, I think the last season of Degrassi High and School's Out are pretty damn top tier haha

i hate the kevin smith episodes so much. but, not enough to ruin that era for me lol. i agree that the paris episodes aren't GOOD, but i don't hate them. the only 'movie' i really don't like is degrassi goes hollywood (not surprising for me due to the era) but the best is BY FAR schools out, absolutely. shark in the water is iconic, i still watch it somewhat regularly lol. i also really love bite your tongue, it makes me cry lol. i don't have vivid memories of clare's vampire era since i only watched those episodes once but i've been thinking of rewatching it. i've seen so much of the later clare that i kinda want to go back to see her as a niner again since she changes so much. i would love something that wraps up the underclassmen from next class, you can clearly tell they weren't done with those stories. specifically saad and esme.

School's Out is definitely my favorite of the movies as well, it was such a ballsy way to end the og series. The story arc Wheels goes through is so heartbreaking. And the Clare vampire episode is pretty cringey, but that's kinda why I like it haha I feel like there are times when the show just nails how awkward and embarassing teenage life can be and that episode excells at it. And I know, it's crazy to think about how much stuff Clare went through during her time on the show! The writers just never gave her a break haha and agreed on Saad and Esme, I think they were super interesting characters.

How are you feeling about the upcoming HBO series? Do you have any hopes/exepectations for it?

i have no expectations, i think that’s the only good way to go into it tbh. i think that’s why i was able to enjoy next class so much. i like what HBO did with gossip girl, so i’m hoping they can pull degrassi off in a similar fashion. i don’t have any high hopes about returning characters BUT i will say the timing of shame kippel returning to twitter and trying to be more social media active is suspicious 🤞 he’s one of the few actors that seems genuinely proud of his time on the show IMO (as he should be.)

I feel ya! I'm feeling cautiously optimistic haha like of course I want it to be good, but I'm trying to go in with neutral expectations. I don't know if you saw, but Stefan Brogren tweeted something recently along the lines of, "Holy shit, it's going to be a busy summer," and then quickly deleted it. It's possible it could have been referring to something else, but I just have this gut feeling he'll be returning. I could totally see Shane returning as well! It would be interesting if they tried to make Jack Simpson a character, but the timeline on the show is so weird that I'm not even sure how old he would be now haha
