They were originally used for hunting, but are now more commonly used in combat settings. "Ghillie" comes from the Scots Gaelic word "Gille". Gille originally meant outdoor servant, aka someone who assisted another with activities such as hunting. |

Err, not much of a reader. But I remember enjoying the first last kids on earth book. A fun fact for you, if you've read this far: Scots is not English-Based. It's it's own language, and although it is somewhat understandable by English speakers, often times English speakers need translations. Scots is also a Germanic language!! It's also not the same language as Scottish Gaelic. Scottish Gaelic is a Celtic language. It actually used to be illegal to speak Scottish Gaelic in Scotland, because the king at the time was oppressing those who spoke it. It was viewed as a trashy language. This was a long time ago, though! Lmk if you wanna know more stuff.. |

Scottish German living in the USA
