Sara 's Interests

General

I suppose I consume a lot of entertainment media; music, movies, tv shows, books, YouTube, video games. I like technology and I like learning new things. I regularly attend adult ballet classes to exercise and keep up with my training I’ve had. I like to sing, I like musical theater and probably would have pursued that if life had gone differently. I like to travel, but I have absolutely no sense of direction so I’ll probably just be lost. I enjoy putting things together but am not so great with complicated written directions, so I’ll probably just try to build it with no directions whatsoever. I like the weird, abstract or just kind of ugly things of the world, like vultures and hairless dogs. I find them charming because really society has just deemed them ugly, but I think they’re magnificent because they are unpretentious. They aren’t trying to be anything aside from themselves and I think that’s cool.

Music

I listen to a lot of indie rock, but I also like some rap/hiphop and classical music or broadway musicals. Some of my favorites include: twenty one pilots, NF, Lana Del Rey, the Killers/Brandon Flowers, Patrick Watson, Green Day, Hozier, Queen, The Beatles, Foreigner.

Les Miserables, Chicago and The Phantom of the Opera are my favorite Broadway musicals.

Classical, I tend to lean toward Beethoven, but I also like Chopin. I was subjected to a lot of performances of Stravinsky, which at first the music just sounds like a cat bouncing around on a piano, but I do have some appreciation for at least his Apollon music; I’m really not a fan of the bassoon/trumpet/trombone/clarinet in his Soldier’s Tale. I think those instruments in general are extremely obnoxious to listen to, especially if they are the central part of the music, no offense to anyone that plays them lol

Movies

I watch a lot of thriller/horror movies, I like the horror genre just because it’s usually so creative and also I just like survival type content. I also enjoy sci-fi/fantasy and those sort of indie dramas that are kind of weird, and I like dark comedies.

Television

I enjoy both good and bad tv. I like reality shows sometimes, I’ve consumed some of the trash shows of the century like 90 days Fiancé and Teen Mom. I like those reality competition survival shows like survivor realm or the creative ones such as Face off.

Lately I’ve been watching Alone - reality tv, Cobra Kai, Skeleton Crew and maybe my favorite show I’ve ever watched: Severance.

Other faves from the past:

Mr. Robot, Lost, Sugar

Books

I used to be an avid reader as a child and teen and then college kind of burned me out. Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit and the Wheel of time and Series of Unfortunate Events were my favorite books then.

Recently I read Stephen King’s The Shining and I had not been so invested in a book in a long time.

I also like non-fiction books. Lately I’ve been reading “The story of civilization” by Will Durant. I like reading non-fiction about history; I had a whole world war 2 moment and I also like reading books about how to do certain things, like cinematography or something regarding technology. I like biographies as well because I like reading about people’s lives.

Heroes

Honestly, I’ve never known how to answer this. I feel like heroes is a really strong word and maybe I over think this but it’s like putting someone on a god-like pedestal and I don’t think anyone is that status. There’s people I look up to, just in my life and obviously there are people like firemen, soldiers, police officers, nurses, doctors that probably deserve the hero title, but in a way I feel like most people can be capable of being a hero to somebody. There are people that are legends because of what they’ve created, but I don’t know if they are hero status.
