About me:
hi, im nightshade. please take a seat on whichever blinkie or stamp catches your eye. would you like a cup of tea?
im a soft-hearted person with a deep sense of curiosity. i love learning about new things, listening to birdsong, and feeling overcome with emotion while experiencing any piece of media ever
im a late bloomer in a lot of ways. due to some difficult life circumstances, ive put off the process of nurturing my own interests/passions for far too long, and im still figuring out what im into. becoming a more fulfilled version of myself has been really neat so far! im excited to explore more and share the results with you all :-)
im plural, and my headmates are deeply important to me. i consider them my family: three of them are my partners, while several others are my kids. this makes me a parent, in a very non-traditional way! headspace parenting is one of the most central aspects of my life, and i talk about it a lot
i also have a variety of chronic health conditions and deal with fatigue on a regular basis
i have a lot of creative aspirations, and i try to work on my projects a few times per week. im writing a science fantasy novel that explores themes of grief, friendship, and a community's relationship with nature. i want to make video essays about games criticism, and i have several ideas for research topics and games id like to analyze. i went to school for poetry, and while i don't write poems often, i come back to it from time to time. im also a digital collage artist
beyond that, id love to develop my skills in creative fields i have zero history with (coding! game dev! making music!). at my core, the thing i love to do most is make stuff. i cook and bake often, too, so lmk if you'd like to exchange recipes :-)
Who I'd like to meet:
perpetually iso: fellow covid-conscious ppl, ppl who feel the world moves too fast, fellow robotkins + angelkins, plural ppl who are inclusive of all system types, gentle souls, those who tried on many lgbtq+ labels but now reject them all, and any1 who wants to wander an aquarium w/me and stare at some fish
i don't have a DNI list, but here's a sampling of my political beliefs so you can get a sense of who i am:
- im anti-racist, cop, military, prison, terf, and zionist
- i believe in consuming only as much as the planet can sustainably produce. whenever possible, i try to reduce my consumption and to appreciate everything i buy and own
- i believe in wealth redistribution and reparations to people of color
- i want single-payer healthcare and universal basic income. healthcare, housing, food, water, and sanitation are basic human rights, and no one should be denied them
- i believe in robust support and autonomy for disabled people, regardless of how much "value" they're capable of producing in a traditional career
- covid is an ongoing public health crisis (ask me about long-covid!), and the u.s. government has failed in educating and protecting the population
- i don't think it's useful to assume others are faking some aspect of their physical/mental health. i don't care how quirky it seems; if we don't accept that other ppl are the experts of their own lives, what's the point?
i work full-time retail, and that + my other responsibilities keep me very busy. i probably won't respond to comments or IMs right away, but i will get to them eventually! i like to learn about other people's lives, and im a p active commenter on bulletins and blog posts
im comfortable with befriending minors b/c i believe very strongly in intergenerational friendship. i think it's good for young people to have a variety of adults they can talk to, whether they want advice about something or just want to see other ways of growing up. it's also good for adults to remember that they have a responsibility to children and teenagers and that automatic disdain for people younger than them accomplishes nothing
imo, separating teenagers from everyone else (except the adults they happen to be in close physical proximity to) can be isolating and dangerous. if all you have for comparison is your parents, your teachers, and some other teenagers, the world can look much smaller than it is

- IM you first (unless you ask me to)
- ask for any of your socials outside this site

RARE RUNE FACTORY MENTION whats your favourite game go omg, rune factory enjoyer spotted!!! i honestly haven't gotten v far in any of the games ive played (i switch between a million interests with no continuity lol), but i have v fond memories of 4 (one of the love interests looks a lot like my wife so i love to do his arc) and i think the vibes of 3 are spectacular. rly looking forward to playing more of both by nightshade; ; Report 4 was what got me into the series, i was obsessed w kiel. hes just a little guy fr. but i really loved 3 as well!!! i feel like i enjoyed 1 better than 2 but tbh i dont remember the story lines that well, i mostly just use all of the games as a life simulator aosuhdasuhd. except for 3 because none of the love interests were cool to me lmao, then i actually cared about the story!!! kiel is the one who reminds me of my wife!!!! truly the sweetest..... and rf4 made so many improvements on the series. im so glad it was able to bring ppl into the charm and delight of rune factory by nightshade; ; Report |
