ClaT

About me:

“ClaT” is the solo project of Claudio Tagliabue, singer and guitar player of the rock band Dusk since 1998 and from 2017 also bass player in the punk rock band Like Looking for Gold, both from lake Como, Italy.

During a pause of “Dusk”, ClaT did start to play in a band called Clearly Quite Absurd.

Clearly Quite Absurd were formed in early 2007. Although each member had already been committed to different bands, with different experiences and musical tastes, guitarist Daniele and drummer Stefano decided to collaborate. Bass player Luca was added shortly after, followed by the second guitarist and lead vocalist Claudio.

After finding out how much they enjoyed playing together, the band began to hold concerts in the area of Como, playing rock covers from the ’60s, as well as covers from more recent years. Depending on the occasion, CQA has been able to perform both in electrical or completely acoustic.

In the summer of 2008, CQA participated in a music competition held in the beautiful square of Cernobbio, on the shores of Lake Como, offering original songs composed by Claudio for his former band Dusk. Thanks to the victory at the competition, and on the wave of enthusiasm gained, the band decided that its nucleo was formed by Claudio and the Mazzoni’s brothers, and focused on recording a promotional cd with 3 original songs.

The band first promo cd was finished in spring of 2010, with the help of professional drummer and producer Giordano Colombo. The songs “Speechless”, “Velocity”, and “28” have received positive reviews and much support also from many countries outside of Italy.

In fall of 2010, CQA traveled to Finland to perform in the rock city of Tampere where they proposed a 2 hours show with own compositions and some well known covers arranged in a acoustic way.

After some concerts in north Italy, in the following years, the band’s components started different projects and Claudio did decide to finish the songs he was working on as a solo project.

In 2020 the first album “Directions” has been finally published with the help of Cello Label. It does contain 10 songs, 8 of which were recorded and produced by Giordano Colombo at the wonderful studios “Auditoria Records” of Fino Mornasco (CO – Italy) plus 2 songs in double versions, both in English and italian language, recorded and produced by Fabrizio Saullo at “Saul Studio” in Milano.

The song “Never Fall / Strada” has been chosen as the first launch single and does evidence a mix of rock influences with a more modern sound. The videoclip was filmed by Alessandro Di Federico, a talented film maker of Como.

Waiting for publishing his first official solo project, during the lockdown of spring 2020, ClaT did experiment with home recording.

“March ’20 Ep” is the result of a long and inspired weekend of writing and recording, experimenting with sounds different from his main bands. Claudio did play all the instruments.
On YouTube it was promptly published also an homevideo for the song “Quarantine”, which gave the main idea of the concept, soon followed by videos for each song.
