About me:

Joseph Marrero is a family man and community oriented individual who in 2010 moved to the community of Roy, Utah where he lived for 5 years. He moved to Roy after living in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania for most of his life. While in Pennsylvania, he founded and ran Troop 99 of the Boy Scouts of America, an inner city scout troop for boys who were impoverished or of low income in his community. He was able to portray the need to the school district of the city of Allentown and one of their schools became the chartering organization for the group. He also was the committee chair of Troop/Pack 77 that was chartered by Saint Francis of Assisi, Catholic Church in Allentown PA, working with an organization that served approximately 60 boys. He has also been on the board for Community Services for Children where he served on the parent’s committee as well as was an alternate officer for the board of directors, this group would help make and influence the decisions for teachers and students of the Head Start program. He served on this committee for a total of three years. Along with his involvement with causes for children in the community, Joseph also served as a volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician in his community for more than a decade. While living in the Lehigh Valley, an area with a population of 352,947, he was very involved in his local politics. Joseph worked with the political system in Allentown to the citizens’ advantage by working with the mayor’s assistant to institute programs to help young men and women in the city to learn about ownership and pride in their community. Joseph’s love of his community also extends toward its history, He has worked towards honoring our veterans by taking care of a long ignored cemetery that was the final resting place for many men who fought in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 at the Linden Street Cemetery. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Union and West End Cemetery, one of the largest and oldest cemeteries in the city of Allentown. He helped start programs for the Sun Inn in Bethlehem, PA, that brought in more visitors and revenue and helped keep a National Historic Landmark alive. After moving to Roy Utah, He continued his civic and community endeavors towards a better life for his children and his community. He began running Boy Scout Troop 186 that is chartered through the LDS church, Roy 4th Ward, and has become very active in his community government, with thoughts of added safety and enjoyment for all of our citizens. Joseph has lived in very large cities (Allentown PA, New York NY, Philadelphia PA and Columbus OH) for most of his life so he understands the needs and wants of a large city’s citizens. He also knows and understands what is needed in a small town to keep its small town feel. Strong, safe and happy communities are Joseph’s goal, with his experiences and community service Joseph understands the community, from its children to its elderly and the honoring of even it’s passed on citizens. Joseph ran for both City Council in Roy Utah as well as for a Utah house seat for the 12th district. taking 25 % of the votes in his bid for the Utah house, and 10% of the votes for his council seat. Joseph still remains friends with those he ran against, because he believes only together can we make our cities and states better. In 2015 Joseph moved to Florida and continued to help his community through Boy Scout troop 827 as the Scout Master for 2 years. He also stayed active in town politics and with the local firefighters. He and his family now live in Alabama since 2018 on the next chapter of their lives.
