Nicholas Taplin's Blurbs

About me:

My name is Nicholas. I am a lifelong underground music documentarian/recordist who has lived all over the West Coast and also Austin, TX. I have lived in Oakland, CA for the last 8 years and want to live here indefinitely, but I feel strong cultural ties to Pacific Northwest indie rock.

I currently have a "bee in my bonnet" to return social media back to being helpful to musicians, and I strongly feel Facebook has failed the music world. Literally every musician I have spoken with feels MySpace was a vastly superior platform for them than Facebook is. I am stoked this "fake" MySpace exists, and I hope to get a lot of new friends on it, but I am frustrated the music player on it only allows for one song, which isn't good enough. If the music player was able to contain a bunch of songs like the old MySpace did, then this site would be great.

Check out this (unfinalized) mix I'm working on of a song I recorded while a was a UCSC student for the Santa Cruz band The Loyal Sons and Daughters in 2003. http://music.post-consumer.com/lsd/LSD--cool_song_mix_1_2_2020-07-30.mp3

I did this for Death Songs (Nick Delffs): http://music.post-consumer.com/death_songs/Giving.m4a

I did this for the Oakland band Ötzi: https://otzi.bandcamp.com/album/gong-show-ep

I did this for the Oakland band Tunnel Lights: http://music.post-consumer.com/tunnel_lights/Wickham_Park.mp3

My friend Justin was really prolific with his cassette 4 track recording 20 years ago, and he did this song, which I did the mastering on: http://music.post-consumer.com/the_grief_counsel/Common_Cold.m4a

I did this for the LA band Kmart: http://music.post-consumer.com/kmart/kmart-Morphine_Beach.mp3

I mixed this for Oakland/Santa Cruz artist Denney Joints: http://music.post-consumer.com/denney_joints/Blame.mp3

I signed Nehemiah St-Danger to my record label. This song is on his record: http://music.post-consumer.com/nehemiah/Blood_Mysteriously_Manifests_Itself_in_the_Yolk.mp3

I recorded this when I lived in Austin, TX: https://bnfh.bandcamp.com/

I'm trying to learn bare minimum CSS code so I can make this page look cooler, but I'm currently struggling with it. Hopefully I will figure it out soon.

This is my record label's Bandcamp site. Check out the records I've released and maybe buy one. https://post-consumer.bandcamp.com/

Who I'd like to meet:

Cool nice people.
