The Lurrax's Interests

General

Video games, computers, music performance, programming, cats. That makes up the majority of my life at any given time.

Music

Anything from video games, everything Toby Fox has ever composed, and frankly a shotgun spread of things across the musical spectrum.

Microsoft Sam made good stuff in my studio as well.

I don't have a specific set of artists i'll stick to, but some of the ones that have inspired me as a musician are Dream Theater, Tool, Kitsune², and basically any and all grunge were my earliest influences, but as time progressed, i broadened out a bit. My youtube music playlist varys wildly from Joji and Oliver Tree to Biggie Smalls to Earth, Wind, and Fire. It really just depends on the day and what feels like it hits.

I really don't have many, if any, genres i don't listen to, just genres that don't hit quite as well for me as others.

Movies

Classics [no particular genre, just timeless movies i will rewatch at almost any given time]:

  • They Live
  • Pulp Fiction
  • Idiocracy
  • V for Vendetta
  • The Room

Animation:

  • Akira
  • South Park: BLU
  • MFKZ
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
i know there's lots of others but i don't watch movies a lot, these are the ones that stand out in memory. As i think of them i'll come back and add to this, but movies don't have the same pull for me that other mediums do.

Television

lots of completed series..eses...ses. whatever. nothing i've gone back to terribly often except South Park, which i now can't because HBO max owns it and i now have almost 0 reason to have a hulu.

a decent amount of anime, but it's the girlfriend that keeps track of that.

Watching the world collapse has been kinda interesting for a while, and i'm sure there'll be a lot more of it coming up.

Jojo is a good series.

i also watched Ed Edd n Eddy a ton as a kid.

Books

  • Snow Crash is pretty good, heavy recommend reading if you're into cyber-themed media.
  • Masters of Doom was a great read and helped inspire me into learning software development.
  • Technical manuals and tech oriented textbooks.
  • Heroes

The guy that decided we needed a modern Myspace.

A few of my bosses that i won't name for ID purposes, but they have been key in getting me confident in my own abilities enough to try to do my own thing.

definitely my mom for putting up with my dumb ass through childhood.

    The Lurrax's Blurbs

    About me:

Whatup, I am a guy that takatakas on keyboards and sometimes makes things happen from them.

forewarning that I swear a lot in my things, so if you're one of the few people left that genuinely has a problem with swearing, sorry bruh.

Some of the things I do: [skip to tabs]

    Pixel Art

I'm still relatively new at it, however, I have created a few things. Here's an example:

    Programming

As I build things, when I build something that I can effectively share here, I will make sure to do that. Right now, the only thing I can semi-effectively share are google sheets, which is kind of a boring thing to put on one's portfolio.

This being said, I am more than happy to offer help in the programming department, whether it's help with layout questions, or general "how do i make computer do thing" questions, helping others solidifies that knowledge.

    Video Games

    Retro Achievements Profile

I have a godawful amount of titles that i constantly jump between. Sometimes i'm on Quake. Sometimes I'm replaying old Rockstar games. Sometimes I'm playing stuff with friends.

    Friend me on Steam:

some of the titles I'm currently playing:

    • Valheim
    • Runescape [OSRS]
    • Fuser

Stay tuned; I'm working on building something that will have its home here.

    Overview

I currently do contract IT work, ideally want to move into working for myself. As far as the cooler parts of my life, i play music [started on guitar, in a band as a drummer, really have a sprawl of instruments i play around on], i sometimes code cool things or make nifty, useful spreadsheets and the like, and i play an assload of video games.

    Music

    My stuff

Sometimes the music i make sounds kinda dope. Give it a listen:

    Sea Fortune

Check out some of our album One More (For Safety) - i wrote drums for most of the songs, as well as some of the singing, and the composition for Noise. Listen here:

    Who I'd like to meet:

    • The dude that thought remaking a classic myspace was a good idea, because jesus christ are you correct. Seriously, Sir An, If you ever stumble across my page and decide I can be of use to you or feel like rolling some dice, please hit me up. I am fluent in JS, C#, Google Apps Script, and VBA [specifically for excel, for what that's worth], passable in web-stack [although my eye for visuals is admittedly weak - i'm an engineer, not a pretty-fier], and am not as messy a dev as this profile might suggest, i promise (◕‿◕)
    • Mike Portnoy, by virtue of being one of my biggest inspirations as a drummer. Buddy Rich, too, but I'll have to save that for when I'm 27.
    • Mark Zuckerberg, so I can find out once and for all what species he is.
    • Trey Parker/Matt Stone, so i can thank them for a well balanced childhood.
    • Toby Fox, so i can thank him for existing.
