Matei the Fat

General

Videogames, books, technology, science, space, music, fiction of all kinds. I like what I like and I can't put it into words what or what I like. I just do. I just like good stories, as that is the essence of Humanity to me. Videogames in particular are my favourite medium for storytelling, as some of the best narrative experiences I have ever had are videogames like Red Dead Redemption (1 & 2), Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us, Baldur's Gate (all of them), Halo, Mass Effect, Destiny, and so on and so forth. I also like going to the gym.

Music

Not one specific genre. I like all music that I like. While I tend to lean more to metal and rock, I do not mind any single genre. My fave band is TOOL, but that could be subject to change if I find something I like more, even though I doubt it. Other favourites of mine are Architects, Mammoth, Queens of the Stone Age, Animals as Leaders, Primus, the Omnific, Atavistia, Blood Incantation, and as for other genres, I like Carti, Uzi, Wayne, Kanye, and Lady Gaga is my favourite pop artist. Of classical composers, I particularly like Vivaldi and Paganini, and of Jazz I actually don't have a particular favourite.

Movies

Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Avatar, the MCU even. Nowadays I don't watch movies at the cinema as I used to, but I still go. I have recently gotten into classic romanian films from the communist period, and they're pretty good. The Mărgelatu series in particular I really like, I highly recommend it. I have watched many movies besides these listed, too.

Television

I do not watch TV shows as much as I used to during Lockdown, but I still have some favourites, most being older, but also some new. For live action, I only really enjoyed the CW Flash show, but we all know how it went after season 3. Animated I enjoy much more, though whether if that's because the quality is higher or because it's more popular is anyone's guess, including mine. My Little Pony, Miraculous, Gravity Falls, Ninjago, JJBA, Bleach, One Piece (pre-timeskip), JJK, I like any as long as they're good. And by good I don't mean just mainstream, I mean anything good.

Books

I like books. They're my first introduction to the world of storytelling, and I have read them since I was 6. I started with Harry Potter, yes the whole series, then I moved on to Warrior Cats, and boy did I like them. I have read 36 books in that series, and I still have them all at my grandparents' house. I'd like to read them again, but I don't know exactly when. After that, I read the Foundation series by Asimov, and it was good, my first good sci-fi after Star Wars. Lord of the Rings, too, was my first good true fantasy read. Andy Weir's stories are some of my particular favourites also. I have read too many books to detail here. Currently, I'm reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons. And as for comics and manga... Even more. My favourite is Watchmen, and let's just leave it at that.

Heroes

Andy Weir is my favourite contemporary author, George Lucas' films and ideas created my favourite piece of media ever (not Indiana Jones), J.R.R. Tolkien fathered the precursor to all modern fantasy, Flea, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, and Justin Chancellor are some of my favourite bassists, and Newton is perhaps my favourite physicist.
