Sajjad's Interests

General

"I have countless interests; I am literally interested in everything except for what is 'mainstream'—it’s just my nature. My curiosity is so deep that regardless of the topic, I can keep up with the conversation and overwhelm you with information. This stems from my obsessive need to research and dive into the finest details of every subject. Here are my primary interests, in order: Freedom and Revolution: I won’t speak much about this, as it is indescribable and requires endless discussion. Audio Engineering: This is currently my greatest passion. I am essentially a sound engineer now; all I lack is the formal degree and a bit more experience. Unfortunately, my country offers no academic path for this field, so I aspire to study abroad—specifically in Canada or the USA. These two countries occupy my entire focus as I explore every possible way to get there. Engineering is where I feel truly free. It is the only thing I’ve truly excelled at. When I organize an event, I obsess over the smallest details, from the hall’s upholstery to the flooring and decor. When I tune the acoustics for someone’s voice, I feel as though I’m hearing sound in a vacuum, where my innate expertise is put to the test. I inherited this from my father, but my passion has surpassed his—yet, this passion feels wasted in my home country. Writing: This is my other sanctuary for freedom. You might wonder why I emphasize 'Freedom' so much; it’s because I live in a society where freedom is non-existent and viewed as 'forbidden' due to sheer ignorance. Therefore, I seek freedom within a community that rejects it. My writings are understood by no one except me and Ghadir. I call my work 'Elegies' (Rathaa’), though I’m not sure if they fit the technical definition, but I am convinced of the name. In these elegies, I pour out all my emotions. I consider myself an expert on feelings despite my emotional numbness—a strange paradox. I despise superficiality, and honestly, I find this very text superficial because I believe language itself is too shallow to describe everything. Ghadir was my catalyst for writing. I started a year ago when people began exploiting me and loneliness started to haunt me. I’ve been alone my whole life, but it used to feel natural. However, after I started interacting with people and they subsequently abandoned me, loneliness began to feel heavy. My first elegy was a meditative piece on the 'Grief' found in Al-Khaqani’s music. I remembered the first time I heard him on the rooftop of Ghadir’s house; she played his song 'The Sky of Love' (Sama’ al-Ishq), a track that has remained immortal to me for six years."

Music

"Music isn't just half of my life—it is my entire life. It truly shaped me as a human being. Music became a part of me instinctively since childhood, to the point where I only realized its significance later because it was as natural as breathing. As for my taste, it is incredibly diverse and eclectic; I own over 700 audio files, 500 of which belong to a single artist: Mohamed Baqir al-Khaqani. The rest is a mix of Black Metal, DSBM, Rock ‘n’ Roll, and anything tragic or melancholic—I gravitate toward the somber. I also listen to some rap and a genre I personally call 'Nostalgia songs'—mostly old pop hits that trend on social media. Additionally, I love classical Arabic music where instruments like the Oud, Percussion, Mirwas, and Qanun unite to create a musical legend. In this genre, quality is the standard; it’s rare to find a bad piece. Finally, there is the genre I grew up with: Hussaini Melodies. Despite its religious nature and specific cause, I no longer listen to it for religious reasons, but for its pure aesthetic value—it is the most beautiful part of my collection. I limit myself to three icons in this field: Mohamed Baqir al-Khaqani: I’ve listened to him since I was 10. His voice turned me into an 80-year-old man in spirit. For four years, I lived in total isolation from the world, especially emotionally. Then, someone came and pulled me out of that isolation, changing my life for the worse—my only wish is to return to who I was. The person who introduced me to him was a girl named Ghadir, who literally created me from nothing; she passed away two months ago. Bassem Al-Karbalaei: Simply the greatest voice to ever exist on this earth. Sayyid Salam al-Hussaini: His specialty is despair, stillness, and diving deep into the soul. This is a small glimpse into my musical world. 🙃"

Movies

"Movies, series, and cinema in general represent half of my life in many ways; they’ve played a huge role in self-discovery and in shaping my personality. Given my vast and eclectic taste, describing my cinematic preference would take a long time and a very lengthy text. To put it briefly: I watch literally everything. However, I have an aversion to watching 'mainstream' or ultra-famous works—not because they are bad, but simply because they are famous. To give you an idea of my passion, I have watched over 1,000 titles in just two or three years."

Television

"To be honest, I haven't watched TV in a very long time—years, actually. However, most of my childhood memories are tied to it and its shows. In the past, we had three very famous channels for animation: Spacetoon, MBC3, and Cartoon Network. These channels were divided among my siblings and me 🙃. I was on 'Team Spacetoon,' so I’ll talk about my favorite shows from back then. I loved The Fantastic Four, LazyTown, Inazuma Eleven (Abtal al-Kora), and Sendokai Champions—I think that’s the name. I also enjoyed Clarence, Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, Power Rangers, and many others..."

Books

"In general, I lean towards 'discovery-based' philosophical books—the kind that don't hand you a philosophy directly. Instead, they present a story or a novel where you, the reader, must extract the underlying wisdom from every passage. Through this process, you discover ideas that reflect your own unique perspective on life, rather than just absorbing someone else's. Here, the author offers multiple layers within a single text, because the meaning is something you uncover yourself. This is why I love Dostoevsky’s works; my favorite book is his novel, The Double."

Heroes

Hmmm, actually I like the Heroes who embody freedom like: Thorfinn, Luffy, Eren, Sid, and many more...
