I like a lot of (mostly between the 1960s and the 1990s) experimental/avant-garde rock, punk (protopunk, first wave, hardcore, post-punk, gothic rock, etc), progressive rock, jazz (especially free jazz/avant-garde jazz), some blues, a bit of 70s-80s industrial, mandinka kora music, etc. It’s hard to list all of my favorite bands and musicians, because there’s just so many I like, but I’ll try: Wire, Cardiacs, DEVO, XTC, The Doors, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Deep Purple, Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop & The Stooges (especially The Stooges album and Funhouse album), MC5, Television, Pere Ubu, Rocket from the Tombs, Sex Pistols, CAN, NEU!, Kraftwerk, Amon Düül II, The Feelies, Buzzcocks, The Sound (with Adrian Borland), Slint, Husker Du, Minutemen, Tortoise, Mogwai, This Heat, Black Midi, Black Country New Road, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, Frank Zappa, Nazz (with Todd Rundgren), The Blue Magoos, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Beatles (I like both their earlier and later music), The Who, The Rolling Stones, Tubeway Army/Gary Numan, Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, Son House, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Ram Jam, ZZ Top, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Art Blakey, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Sun Ra, The Residents, etc.
