Almost anything by Tanith Lee or C.J Cherryh! They are the goats of fiction as far as I'm concerned. Quil Carter is my favorite modern author. I know he is really controversial. But I think he might be the greatest author of out time. He has the best and most realistic characters out of any author I've ever read. His sex scenes especially are so well done. And even though they are all about gay men and I'm not into men I'm still glued to every single line because they are all about the characters and how they relate to each other. Nothing he writes about is just there for cheep thrills (unlike most authors who write about lots of sex and violence)(Oaky, his Silent Ground books are weird and I don't support those. I think he wrote them when he was younger and since then he has grown up a bit). Others: Evil Iin Me (Brom), InCryptid and October Daye series' (Seanan McGuire) though I haven't read all of them yet. John Crow's Devil (Marlon James), Amber Chronicles (Roger Zelazny), Tales of Tremaine (R.R Vridi) this is so much better than King Killer, I don't care I'll fight you!
