Landon's Interests

General

I enjoy immersing myself in a wide variety of creative and interactive experiences, especially through video games. My favorite titles span multiple genres—from the strategic planning of The Escapists and Prison Architect to the rich, immersive worlds of The Elder Scrolls, Cyberpunk 2077, and Fallout. I appreciate puzzle-solving in games like Portal and Monument Valley, as well as high-energy action in titles like Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Battlefront II. I’m drawn to games that offer storytelling, sandbox creativity, or atmospheric intensity, like Little Nightmares, GTA, The Forest, Half-Life, Rust, Lethal Company, and Garry’s Mod. Alongside gaming, I enjoy tending to my garden and experimenting with new foods, which gives me a grounding connection to nature and culture. I'm also a fan of reading, finding enjoyment in the stories and ideas books offer. Whether it’s through digital worlds or real-life exploration, I’m always seeking experiences that are imaginative, engaging, and enriching.

Music

When it comes to music, I gravitate toward the atmospheric and emotionally resonant sounds of indie and experimental genres. Tracks like "From the Start," "Creep," and "Deceptacon" resonate with me for their raw lyricism and distinctive tones that blur the lines between vulnerability and defiance. My musical interests extend beyond the mainstream, favoring artists who challenge conventions and evoke deeper introspection. My favorite artist, The Caretaker, perfectly embodies this—crafting hauntingly beautiful soundscapes that explore memory, nostalgia, and decay. Music, for me, is not just a background element but an immersive experience that speaks to the complexities of the human psyche.

Movies

When it comes to cinema, I gravitate toward films that either unravel the intricacies of real-world ambition or immerse me in the suspense of the unknown. I enjoy thought-provoking dramas like Dumb Money and The Founder, which explore ambition, capitalism, and the unpredictable consequences of innovation. At the same time, I have a strong appreciation for horror films—The Conjuring being a standout—that deliver both psychological tension and supernatural intrigue. I'm also a fan of video game adaptations, appreciating how they translate beloved interactive worlds into cinematic experiences. Whether it's a story grounded in reality or one that pulls me into eerie or fantastical realms, I’m always drawn to movies that leave a lasting impression.

Television

I have a deep appreciation for gripping and intense television, particularly shows set within prison environments such as Jailbreak and Orange is the New Black, where complex character dynamics and high-stakes drama unfold behind bars. I'm also an avid anime enthusiast, with a strong preference for action-packed series like Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Z Kai, which combine explosive battles with rich, evolving storylines. Additionally, I find myself drawn to darker, futuristic narratives, with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners standing out as a visually stunning and emotionally charged series that captures the raw essence of a dystopian future. My tastes balance gritty realism with bold, stylized storytelling.

Books

I really enjoy reading books that have a dark, mysterious, or eerie vibe to them. One of my favorites is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children — I love how it blends fantasy and the supernatural with a haunting atmosphere. I’m also a big fan of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. It’s intense and disturbing in the best way, and I like how it makes you think about deeper, existential themes. I also read the Five Nights at Freddy’s novels, which I enjoy for the creepy lore, suspense, and how the story unfolds with that twisted, haunted feel. Overall, I’m drawn to books that are a little unsettling, imaginative, and leave you thinking even after you’ve finished them.

Heroes

Batman has always held a special place in my heart—more than just a comic book character, he’s a symbol of strength, resilience, and justice. Unlike other superheroes, Batman doesn't rely on powers or magic; he uses his intelligence, wealth, physical training, and sheer willpower to take on some of the darkest villains imaginable. I’ve loved him since the first time I saw him, and over the years, my admiration for him has only grown. There’s something timeless and haunting about Gotham, and Batman stands as its eternal guardian, no matter how broken he may be on the inside. What makes Batman so captivating is not just his cool gadgets or fighting skills, but his tragic origin. As a child, Bruce Wayne witnessed the brutal murder of his parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, in a cold Gotham alley. In many versions of his story, this crime seems random. But in the Court of Owls storyline, it’s revealed that there may have been more behind the killing—an ancient and secret society pulling the strings behind Gotham’s powerful elite. The Court of Owls, with their eerie masks and hidden influence, had their own reasons for eliminating the Waynes, seeing them as a threat to their control over the city. This dark revelation deepens Bruce’s mission. He didn’t just become Batman to stop street crime—he fights to root out corruption embedded within Gotham’s very foundation. Learning that his parents might have been targeted by a powerful secret organization shakes him to his core, but it also fuels him. The Bat isn’t just about fear—it’s about fighting back against the systems that allow evil to flourish. Batman becomes the living symbol of that rebellion, pushing back against forces both seen and unseen. My love for Batman also comes from how human he is. He makes mistakes. He struggles with relationships. He isolates himself. But despite the loneliness, the darkness, and the emotional weight he carries, he still shows up every night to protect people. That’s what makes him a hero. He could have let his pain destroy him—but instead, he turned it into purpose. His pain became the fire that forged the Batman, and I think that’s incredibly powerful. There’s also a deep psychological layer to Batman. He’s not just trying to protect Gotham—he’s trying to save himself. Every night he puts on that cape and cowl, he’s confronting his own trauma and fears. The Batcave, the rogues’ gallery, the legacy of the Wayne family—it’s all part of a cycle that he can’t break, but refuses to give up on. That kind of dedication, bordering on obsession, makes Batman feel so real to me. He’s a symbol of what it means to keep going even when the odds are stacked against you. All of this is why I love Batman so much. He’s more than a hero—he’s a legend built from tragedy. The mystery, the darkness, the constant battle against evil both on the streets and in the halls of power… it all makes him endlessly compelling. Whether he’s fighting the Joker or uncovering the secrets of the Court of Owls, Batman represents a relentless pursuit of truth and justice. And that’s why, no matter how many stories are told, Batman will always be my favorite.
