General

Current Hobbies: homelabbing, playing music (sometimes in public), SCA, recreational learning.

Interests that for me don't qualify as hobbies: linguistics, programming, history.

Music

I like anything with a nice melody. I also like a nice story. I dislike music that lacks melody. I listen to Pandora a lot. I have a lot of CDs and would like to self-host my own streaming service. I'm working on moving from YouTube to Spotify for the stuff that I don't own CDs of.

I play recorder and harmonica. My favorite genre of music is Celtic, and I play music in Irish sessions sometimes. I also play Mediæval music. I play entirely by ear, and my recorder has reversed hands.

Anyways, non-exhaustive list of genres I like: Celtic, Bluegrass, 2K Country, New Age, piano, 2K Pop, Classic Rock, Videogame Music, Chiptune, Midi, Symphonic, Orchestral, Mediæval, Traditional Chinese, C-Pop, Metal (Power, Heavy, Thrash, Symphonic), some Punk (particularly Pop-Punk).

Music I don't like (all of these genres have some exceptions): Screamo, Rap, RnB, EDM, Techno.

Movies

I don't watch a lot of movies; but here are some that stood out to me: Dragonheart, Braveheart, The Core, How to Train your Dragon, Honor among Thieves, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Land before Time.

Television

I don't watch a lot of TV — most of what I watched was when I was a kid. Anyways, here's a short list of shows I consider worth watching: Avatar the Last Airbender.

Books

I haven't read a lot of books since high school — the Internet replaced book-reading for me. A lot of my favorite stuff was non-fiction, like my encyclopædias. Anyways, here are some series that I considered to be my favorites back when I read: The Merlin Series by TA Baron, The Squire's Tale series by Gerald Morris.

Heroes

I don't really have any. I guess I'll say "Teddy Roosevelt"? He was pretty cool. Oh, and Pope Julius II, who named himself after Julius Caesar and defeated his rivals on the field of battle and built much of the Vatican. He was pretty cool. Alexander the Great was pretty great. But while I think these fellas are cool, I don't think of them as my role-models.
