Oh no that's so sad :( yeah their respiratory system is so sensitive too that even if he did survive he probably would've had lifelong complications or shortened lifespan. I used to have alligator snapper babies bc they hatched in my yard, we kept them as pets for a few days but I never remove animals from the wild so I sent them on their merry way at the wildlife reserve/lake across the street where their parent probably came from to lay the eggs in the first place haha

hahaha, her name is Chiyo and she's 9. I rescued her a year and a half ago when I was going through a really bad breakup, so she's basically my ESA at this point. Chilla's can live up to 25 yrs, so she's actually pretty young despite being approx 9 yrs old already. Hoping I have many more years with her~ Everyone who see's her or if they're lucky gets to meet her XD says they wanna get a chilla but I always advise people that they're not the best pets, they're super high maintenance and expensive, and people often forget they're exotics, but their care veeerrry much reflects that. Most of the info on google about chillas is wrong, and most of the products made for them in standard pet stores can actually kill them ._. their diets are also extremely restrictive. She's my high maintenance lil princess lmfao
