About me:

I'm from the United States and I like building retro computers. I understood Half-Life 2 on a level nobody else ever has. I literally own a shirt that says, "I Understood Half-Life 2". Every now and then I try to write fiction. It sucks. I tend to delete everything I write and proceed to commit suicide in increasingly comical ways. My wetware technician really hates me because he's had to resurrect me 16 times now. My body is starting to look like an overloaded telephone pole. But with the war against the thirteen foot tall Crustacean invaders, he said I might be able to have my nervous system transferred into a tank chassis! How cool is that?! My favorite video game is Garry's Mod, as of writing this I have 1,918 hours in it. My favorite color is probably orange, it makes me think of sodium street lamps.

Every now and then I like to piece together old computers sticking to an approximate year or era. A brief overview of what I have:
1998- custom Pentium II with Creative 3D Blaster Banshee and Sound Blaster Live! sound card
2000- Compaq Presario 5310US with Pentium III 1ghz, Geforce2 MX gpu, and SBLive
2004- custom Pentium 4 Northwood 3ghz, NVIDIA 6600GT gpu, and SB Audigy 2 ZS (this one has fans with cool blue and red lights but the case sucks and I want to get a new one)
2004- recreation of the 'Beefy Computer' from Counter-Strike: Source's cs_office (work in progress)
1996- Pentium MMX custom build with S3 ViRGE/VX and Sound Blaster 16 (work in progress, haven't worked on this since summer cause the motherboard died on me and I haven't had the time or money)

The aforementioned build is probably the oldest I'll go because the eBay prices for very old hardware get absurd. (like $500 for an i486 desktop from 1989) I've been looking forward to the idea of building computers from say 2008 or 2012. Despite how it may seem I'm not actually big on nostalgia.

I'll probably make a blog post with pictures of these computers sometime.
