About me:

Albany River Rats HC is a co-ed barnstorming exhibition and tournament team proudly carrying on the legacy of the original Albany River Rats. Rooted in the spirit of community and competition, we honor the history of one of the Capital District’s most iconic hockey franchises. The original Albany River Rats made their mark in the American Hockey League, capturing the 1993 and 1994 regular season championships before clinching the prestigious Calder Cup in 1995. They continued to dominate throughout the decade, earning multiple division titles up until 1998. Beyond the ice, the River Rats were a beloved fixture in the community—making regular appearances at local businesses like Hannaford Supermarkets and engaging with fans across the Capital Region. At Albany River Rats HC, we aim to emulate that same connection. Every year, we hand-make and donate holiday cards to children in the foster care system and take part in volunteer events that reflect our values of inclusivity, teamwork, and community care. We are more than a team—we are a tribute to a legacy. Our Town, Your Team!
