General

I am a furry, so I like anthro characters and whatnot. They tend to be a focus of a lot of my art things. But I also really like recording and writing music, and that's what I'm going to school for since I'd like it to be my career.

Music

I like progressive rock alot, basically yes, gentle giant, phish, so on. There's a lot of bands I like. I have a constantly growing youtube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrJtzfxca-s&list=PLlJNkUNhhCzF6PkNiGqtpAQ2cH_YE89IO where I add one song from each band. Many of them are just one off's but also a lot of them are pretty representative of the music I mainly enjoy.

Movies

I always say my favorite movie is uzumaki, adapted from Junji Ito and directed by Higuchinsky. That might not be entirely tru tho because it's kind of a tough question to answer. Generally, I like goofy and weird japanese horror and also cosmic/lovecraftian horror stuff. Another example would be Hausu by Nobuhiku Obayashi. This film is very abstract and strange but also has great scary and funny moments, parts of its style are very inspiring to me. There's also Everything Everywhere All At Once (had to look that up, always get thing and where mixed up lol). Once again, abstract and weird, but just a great fun ride, that I was lucky to see when it came out in theaters. Coraline was one film I grew up with, that I used to find both scary and strangely beautiful too. I really need to watch more of Laikas' films. There's lots of other films I like too, like comedy films, but I can't think of any other stand outs right now.

Television

I used to watch more tv shows, years ago, but now I don't so much anymore. It's not really something I'm super interested in nowadays. But if I had to say any, I mostly like comedy sketch shows, like Key and Peele. I also like the shows that tell overarching stories, and I wanted to finish Baby Reindeer, but never got around to it.

Books

I really should read more actual books, because most of my books have been manga, comics, graphic novels, and so forth. I mentioned Junji Ito in the movie segment, and I own uzumaki, gyo, and remina, which have all been great ones that I've read multiple times. I also own all the volumes of the Dissolving Classroom by Kazuo Umezz, which fun fact was one of Junji Ito's big inspirations. I need to actually read them tho lol.

Heroes

One of my heroes would probably be Trey Anastasio, the guitarist/lead singer of the band Phish. Reason is because he inspired me alot to pursue starting a band and recording my own music, because he in his early days was super motivated and disciplined in order to achieve that same thing. There's something I heard once that Trey and the band would lock themselves in a sound proof room and just practice there for hours and hours in order to get as tight as possible. He's a bit kooky but an awesome dude and writer. Similarly, Tim Smith of Cardiacs (rest in peace), is also inspirational to me due to his sheer willingness to succeed even with a super wacky and off-beat style of music, even starting his own record company to put his band under. That's a huge risk that luckily turned out a huge reward. Another one is also a guitarist, Steve Howe. He's the guitarist in the band Yes, and was one of the first guitarists I ever really looked up to and tried to replicate. Finding their band and Steve's playing particularly motivated me early on to attempt learning difficult songs and keep at them even when I struggled (hard), because that experience will be super worth it in the future. Finally, I'd say my best friend is also one of my heroes, because not only have they been inspirational for me but they've also helped me worked through tons of hard times mentally and socially in the past, which I'm very grateful for. I am unbelievably thankful to have a friend like them.
