Moon is the son of the Hot Water Daimyō. His father fell for the mysterious charm of a young shinobi named Kaori Chinoike, who he had originally hired for protection.

In the early days of their marriage, rumors circulated that Kaori had bewitched the Daimyō with a potent genjutsu, supposedly to secure a higher position in bureaucratic world. However, the Hot Water Daimyō vehemently denied this, professing his genuine love for the woman who had saved his life, though the truth remained shrouded in uncertainty. Some dismissed these claims as mere fear-mongering, paranoid conspiracies rooted in ancient myths about the Chinoike Clan and their enigmatic powers. Numerous attempts by outsiders to uncover the truth proved futile, leaving the possibility that either they were telling the truth or that Kaori possessed an unparalleled cunning that defied exposure.

With the Daimyō's support, the Valley of Hell gradually transformed into a thriving religious community for the Chinoike Clan, whose influence in parliament steadily grew. Yasuke's mother, deeply committed to preserving the clan's cultural heritage, championed structural reforms. These efforts aimed to eliminate unjust taxation and patrimonialism and promoting bureaucratic rationalism. She is celebrated for her role in safeguarding the clan and nurturing the clan back to strength.
In adherence to a treaty between the Hidden Cloud Village and the Land of Hot Water, Kaori sent her son to Kumogakure at the tender age of nine. There, he embarked on a journey of traditional Kumogakure education and training.

To harness his talents, Yasuke Chinoike's mentor, Sanda Arashi, guided him in channeling his emotions through meditation for inner balance. Additionally, he honed his physical endurance through taijutsu training. It wasn't until after the chunin exams that Yasuke tapped into his latent potential, revealing unique blood-based taijutsu skills stemming from his special physiology.

In the years that followed, Yasuke's mentor helped him reach his full potential, but not without experiencing a devastating loss to his Jashinist rival, Hideto Takarai. In a fateful encounter, Yasuke's overconfidence and misuse of his Kekkei Genkai left him overwhelmed by Hideto's power and intellect. Hideto, invoking the powers of Jashin, brought Yasuke to the brink of death, an experience that would haunt and ultimately humble him.

In a subsequent meeting months later, Yasuke, armed with newfound abilities from his Ketsuryūgan, decisively defeated Hideto by trapping him in a genjutsu. This illusion made Hideto believe he had successfully performed the Death Controlling Possessed Blood jutsu once again. Their third battle ended in a draw, as both chose to restrain their use of Kekkei Genkai. Through these intense encounters, Yasuke and Hideto developed mutual respect and later became the best of friends.
