Music |
People who see my favorite songs list tend to say my tastes are eclectic. There aren't a lot of bands or albums that I like a lot of songs from, it's mostly just individual songs. I'm very picky about music. Most of it sounds like crap to me, except for a few specific genres where I like most songs in those genres, such as psychill, goa-psy trance, nitzhogoa, hard dance, and some varieties of jazz, including bebop, hard bop, and modern vocal jazz. Some other genres I tend to like are indie electronica, chillout dreams (di.fm), and deep tech (di.fm). |
Movies |
Joe Versus the Volcano, What Dreams May Come, The Matrix Reloaded, Hook, Powder, Waking Life, City of Angels, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Princess Bride, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Grumpy Old Men, Harry Potter (all), Pirates of the Caribbean (all), The Lord of the Rings (all), The Hangover (all), I Heart Huckabees, Anchorman, The Science of Sleep, Phenomenon, Dumb and Dumber To, Edge of Tomorrow, Pleasantville, Hero, Amelie, Avengers (all), X-Men (all), Terminator 2, The Fifth Element, Guardians of the Galaxy (all), Meet Joe Black, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Dark City (just for the ending), and a lot of Studio Ghibli films. |
Television |
I currently only watch South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, What on Earth, Mysteries at the Museum, Strange Evidence, Engineering Catastrophes, Impossible Machines, Unearthed, MythBusters, Mysteries of the Abandoned, and sometimes The Simpsons, and sometimes Seinfeld. Oh, and I've recently gotten into the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender reboot. |
Books |
My favorite books of all time are the dialogue series of books by Neale Donald Walsch. I also really enjoyed books by autists Donna Williams and Tito Mukhopadhyay describing their experience. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was pretty good too. When I was young I liked to read a lot of science fiction, especially Ben Bova. Nowadays I'm only interested in non-fiction. I recently re-read The Strange World of Quantum Mechanics by Daniel F. Styer, looking for a specific thing I'd read once (I don't normally re-read books or re-watch movies), and it was pretty interesting and illuminating. I just started re-reading
Beyond Weird: Why Everything You Thought You Knew about Quantum Physics Is Different by Philip Ball, looking for the same specific thing. I re-bought both those books because it was easier than finding them again in my somewhat large book collection. =P |
