V@PYD's Blurbs

About me:

I'm V@PYD, and I've been crafting electronic music since 1994. My journey started with a simple two-deck cassette player, where I'd pry open the decks and slowing down recordings by hand, creating my own unique edits of songs I enjoyed. It was an unassuming beginning, but it laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for sound manipulation. As my musical path unfolded, I transitioned into the digital realm, moving from AIM Productions' Techno Creator to Magix Music Maker and ultimately finding my home in Propellerheads' Reason. During my early years as an artist, I went by the name "Golden Ground", though my work remained largely private, with only one EP release on an obscure Austrian label, ending the project in 2010, putting it on indefinite hiatus. After a short stint as a House and Dubstep DJ, a significant turning point came in 2016, when I stumbled upon the vaporwave movement. This discovery reignited my creative spark, and by March 2017, I had compiled a collection of ten tracks, which became my first album under the V@PYD moniker. Since then, numerous collaborations with fellow artists like Eis-T, dropbassline, Sidekick Wave, ミスト M Y S T, and Strawberry Station have taught me a lot and kept my style evolving. As of late 2023, I have released 12 full albums, 15 EPs and several singles. Today, my sound sits comfortably in the vaporfunk sub-genre, with rhythmic drum grooves and nostalgic harmonies, sourced from the finest 80s samples around. After a two-year hiatus, I returned to the scene in late August of 2023 with my album "Lost in Neon." I also released some of the old Golden Ground songs on Bandcamp, showcasing original compositions that tend more towards the House and EDM genres. I was honored to have my work featured on labels like DMT Tapes FL, Power Lunch Records, Webelotrax, Bogus Collective, and more. My journey is a continuous exploration of sound, and I look forward to what the future holds in this ever-evolving world of electronic music.

Who I'd like to meet:

Just nice people.
