i am suuuuuper interested in jazz right now. i love hearing chord progressions, melodies, and sounds that i have never heard before in music. it's SUCH an overwhelming but lovely experience. i'm also very obsessed with music stems. it's the separated tracks of a song, and it's my favorite thing to look into and see the hidden details of something i've heard over a hundred times before.

Music

music is genuinely my number one interest so i'm gonna be listing a LOT of things....... i hope you guys don't mind. sooo my current obsession is jacob collier!! he's unfortunately a very negatively viewed artist because people see him as some musical elitist who tries to do everything in his music for "grammy bait" and doesn't actually have any value in his art or his music or his lyricism or in anything he does. it pisses me off!!!!! he's got plenty of incredible emotional tracks that will blow you away, and it takes a bit to fully get into his portfolio since he does such a varied amount of genres and styles, but goodness me his work is so addicting if you start to understand who he is and what he stands for as an artist. he's literally just a guy who's been obsessed with music ever since he was born and has been absolutely infatuated with how you understand it and how music works. he gets how music conveys certain ideas, and he expands upon it in so many unseen yet beautiful ways that truly fascinates me while still speaking out to me. even now, after constantly listening to him for the past 6 months, his music and his wisdom still finds new ways to impress me and give me a new perspective on what it means to be a musician. aanyywaayyss... i've also been digging lots of louis cole lately (which is pretty freakin' awesome cuz jacob collier and louis cole are friends!!! they have not collabed yet tho other than a live thing at a house party..) his music is funky nu-jazz shiz with weird drumming that is also very insanely talented at what he does. he's got this weird satirical humor along with his songs which have an insane groove to them that tickles my brain in the best ways!!! he's a huge inspiration in my own drumming journey and i hope i can get somewhere near his level of drumming. he also has a couple other music projects that he leads. one of them is called knower, which was formed with his friend from jazz college, her name is genevieve artadi!! their music styles blend extremely well together because she helps bring out the more colorful melodies in songs while he drives the beat. they also have similar senses of humor and wit, which helps give this theme for all of their music. they also bring a lot of very talented musicians alongside with their projects, and their newest album is all live performances done from inside a single house (with the music videos being available on youtube!!)! i recommend checking them out sometime, they're quite a fun band. louis cole's other project is called "clown core", which is a satirical death-metal band based around nonsense and clowns. it's not something i listen to often since a lot of the music is kinda grating, but it's still a funny project and it's been featured on adult swim!!!! i love louis cole and i wish he had more recognition, but i'm glad he's been able to work with big people like thundercat and coldplay. his music was even on the "lego ninjago" movie and the tv show "the bear"!!! i don't really listen to many other music artists, like i've listened to a lot of kendrick but i don't think i've listened to enough of him. he's so poetic in his raps that i've honestly cried to a few of his songs. i'm also a HUGE pinkpantheress fan, but i don't listen to her much nowadays due to the fact she hasn't dropped anything new in a long time, and she doesn't have that big of a discography currently. i'll list more music artists i listen to semi-frequently: polyphia, chon, relient k, lemon demon, billie eilish, sam greenfield (need to check him out more), tyler the creator, alex g, yoasobi, bjork, tennyson, sza, michael buble, system of a down. i still wanna continue my music adventure more, and i'm sure i will once my jacob/louis obsession dies down.
