Koh's Interests

General

I like Zelda a lot. I’ve been playing it ever since I was little. My favorite Zelda game is Wind Waker and BOTW/TOTK Link is my transition goal.

I do taekwondo. I’m currently a green belt and I have a lot of fun with it! My favorite kick to do is the axe kick because it’s really easy.

Music

I like classic rock, alt rock, hard rock, and opera. I especially like 70s and 80s rock.

I think if you don’t like Queen you’re either lying or don’t exist.

I really like folk songs as well. Greensleeves, Marie’s Wedding, and Cirandeiro are three of my favorites. The Dropkick Murphys cover of Green Fields of France is also very nice I recommend it.

When it comes to opera, my favorite song to listen to is Erlkönig and my favorite song to sing is Sei Miei Sospiri.

Movies

I have How to Train Your Dragon memorized verbatim. It’s my favorite movie.

My second favorite movie is Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Beautiful animation and heavy storyline. Also, it’s funny.

My third favorite movie is the Lego Batman Movie because it’s funny and also made me cry over animated plastic Lego characters.

Television

I’m guessing this means TV shows?

The show I’m watching right now is Good Omen’s season 2. I’ve been really excited for it for a long time, but I can only watch it with my family so it’s pretty slow going.

I’ve also been working my way through Batman: The Animated Series. I’ve been getting into DC recently because of Young Justice (highly recommend), so I’m working my way through the other animated DC stuff.

Two of my favorite series of all time are Avatar The Last Airbender and Mob Psycho 100. Great shows; go watch them.

Books

I like Rick Riordan’s books a lot. I think my favorite series of his is Magnus Chase. I have a pretty big love for Norse mythology, so it plays right to my interests.

I also enjoy Akira Himekawa’s books. They do manga adaptations of Zelda games and the way they write the storylines and develop the characters is really nice. Plus, their art styles are beautiful and fit each of the games they adapt very well. My favorite series of theirs is the Four Swords one. I love the way they handle the dynamics of the different Links— Vio and Shadow in particular. If you’re a Zelda fan, I recommend giving these a read.

I like classical literature, poetry, and mythology as well. I own an Egyptian Book of the Dead which was one of my favorite things to read when I was a kid. I once brought it down to show Jehovah’s Witness missionaries when they asked me if I had a Bible. I did have a Bible, but I thought the Book of the Dead was better.

Two of my favorite poets are Emily Dickinson and the famous Sappho. Stories about forbidden love and the tragedy of loving different from others in a world where it’s not accepted always get me. Maybe that’s why I like Good Omens so much.

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a copy of Journey to the West, but I haven’t yet. I own a book with the first few chapters in it, but I haven’t gotten more yet. It seems like a book I’d like, though. Another book I’ve been wanting to read is the Song of Songs by Ariel Bloch. It’s apparently an accurate translation of the Song of Solomon and is a beautiful love story. I’m a sucker for reading correct translations of incorrectly translated parts of the Bible, so I’ve been really wanting to check that out.

Heroes

Kid Flash, Spider-Man, my parents, and Alfred Pennyworth
