Mason's Interests

General

I like to hike and camp around Western Washington and the Puget Sound area when I have the time to spare. I like a long, scenic drive, visiting small towns and attractions that are off the main roads, and viewing (sometimes catching) wildlife. I partake in “vulture culture” (collecting and preserving the remains of things such as bones and carcasses) and collect oddities and natural specimens. I used to do specimen prep for my university as a hobby. I’m also interested in mortuary sciences, especially the history of funeral practices and the rise of the modern industry. I study occult history, theory and practice in my free time, and have a broader interest in theology and mythology in general. As an anarchist, I’m also interested in various forms of leftist political theory/philosophy. Otherwise, I’m into modern board/card games, (especially Magic: The Gathering), getting really high (weed) all hours of the day and being a little terror and absolute menace toward my friends, who adore me regardless. I’d like to get into hunting, fishing, trapping and animal husbandry in the future. I plan to raise chickens and rabbits for personal consumption one day if I ever live in a space that allows me to. Fond of gardening and would love to learn how to homestead in the future.

Music

Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service, Bright Eyes, The Mountain Goats, The Casualties, The Kills, The Dead Weather, Zeal and Ardor, La Dispute, Earth, Hundred Waters, Nickel Creek, Brighter Death Now, Clipping. Death Tour, Death Grips, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and probably many, many more. I use industrial/harsh noise to clear the static in my brain. Enjoyer of Jazz and Blues as well.

Movies

Not the biggest film fan but I enjoy really weird, artistic or surreal ones, such as Fantastic Planet or Red String and Blood Tea... or that one fucked up stop-motion version of Alice in Wonderland. I gravitate toward animated films. Love Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films.

Television

Amazing World of Gumball, Gravity Falls, Over The Garden Wall, Summer Camp Island, The Owl House, Hilda, Bluey, Bojack Horseman, Letterkenny, Wilfred, It’s Alway Sunny In Philadelphia, I Think You Should Leave, Midnight Diner, Madoka Magica, Mushi-Shi, Kaiba. (I’m a really, really big fan of Bluey and often have it running in the background of my apartment. I collect the merch too >.<)

Books

A Canticle for Leibowitz, House of Leaves, In the House In the Dark of the Woods, Hawk Mountain, A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man, A Walk on the Wild Side, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Rabbit Hutch, Fruiting Bodies, The Alchemist, The Phantom Tollbooth, Coraline, The Ocean at the end of the Lane, Watership Down, A Monster Calls, The Sight, Warriors Cats (yeah, I somewhat still keep up with this beloved series), Star.Ships, The Game of Saturn, The Brazen Vessel, The Failure of Non-Violence, How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, Blood In My Eye, Braiding Sweetgrass, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Dao De Jing (Ames and Hall translations).

Heroes

I don’t think idolizing anyone is healthy, and at this point in my life I don’t think I have any role models. However, there are people whom I have a deep, abiding respect for and have been inspired or influenced by. Mainly contemporary occult authors, philosophers and certain musicians. There are other public figures I have an affinity for as well.

Mason's Blurbs

About me:

I’m Mason, furry trash, animal brained, emo mistaken for punk, or punk mistaken for emo, not really sure. Anarchist, daoist and absolute stoner. Nuked my only social media (twitter), using this site to scratch an itch.

Who I'd like to meet:

I’ll talk to anyone of any age or background as long and they can hold a conversation and our principles and politics don’t immediately clash. Obviously, no bigots. (And please don’t hit on me)
