Oxtail's Interests

General

Producing/recording music, clothing design, cinematography (mostly directing music videos), DJing. Collecting rare/obscure media (on VHS, DVD, CD, VCD, Laserdisc, w/e lol) I'd say building models, but I've only built a handful. Looking to get more into that, though. It can be an expensive hobby, and it's hard to justify having another one of those lol. However, it's a very peaceful process that I enjoy.

Music

So many artists that I think it's easier to just list a few major influences; Cam'ron, Ghostface Killah, Ye, Gorillaz, N.E.R.D., Phil Collins, Just Blaze. As for my own music, I make hip-hop instrumentals. The past few years they've been Synthwave-tinged, and before that, I'd describe my style as "Dark Tropical". Been listening to more House/Dance music lately, and am starting to make little Funk-Rock reference tracks at home.

Movies

Once again, too many to name, so this time we'll just list some of my favorite directors. Michel Gondry, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorcese, Guy Richie, Joe Carnahan. I've been watching a lot of late 80's/early 90's anime films lately; I have a strong appreciation for the hand-drawn/hand-colored style, and the lighting they used (real-life lights projected onto paper/cels, if I'm not mistaken) is A1. I tend to watch films/OVA's as opposed to series, because they're usually shorter/self-contained and I don't have to watch 1000 episodes, and because the animation quality is usually higher. That's a huge thing for me, a visual medium needs to LOOK GOOD before it can be appreciated for it's other merits imho.

Television

The Wire, Bubblegum Crisis, Sons of Anarchy, Dollhouse, Breaking Bad,The Big O, etc. Gurren Lagann, Kill La Kill, B.N.A., Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Really anything Studio Trigger at this point). Currently watching; Last Man, Bee and Puppycat, Abstract: The Art Of Design, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (and waiting on "Bel-Air" Season 2), Regular Show, and The Hype.

Books

Mostly non-fiction; self-help books, text books, and autobiographies. If I do read something fiction, it'll probably be a graphic novel. Jim Lee's the GOAT. I also have a thing for artistic coffee table books.

Heroes

IDK man. As evident through Ye's recent transgressions, having heroes (musical or otherwise) can lead to disappointment. Cam'ron, Jackie Chan, and Richard Porter are my style influences. Bruce Lee and Prince are pretty damn motivational as well.

Oxtail's Blurbs

About me:

If the Dipset eagle was a Digimon. Hip-Hop/Synthwave producer living in NYC. Came here because like many of y'all, I have a deep fondness for early 2000's aesthetics. Feel free to hit me up about whatever!

Who I'd like to meet:

Likeminded people, and uh....non-like minded people, as long as they're cool and respectful, I guess, lol. Answering these types of questions for the first time in like 18 years sure is odd lol. Looking to socialize, network, etc. If you consider yourself a good rapper/singer/musician, hit me up to collab.
