I've not been reading anything but wikis on game stories lol.

Through, "The Things They Carried" is the one that struck me. Have you ever heard of Umineko? I spoiled myself to not waste time, but it's my Umineko all in a book. Message was the same to me. Stories continue.

My first ever book that I remembered was Maniac Magee. That was how I got a name online, but that's also how I first learned of Racism. (I personally just treat everyone the same regardless of Colors)

Heroes

Solid Snake was someone I did looked up to, but as of now, it's mostly beliefs other than a fictional character I looked up to.
