That day, if our positions were switched... Would our fates be different? Would I have your life, and you mine?

The truth is... I wanted to be protected and loved... But I was alone. My only choice was to survive.

In seperating and regaining my human soul, I've realized the gravity of the crime I've committed.

I've realized how important everyhing was... Everything I've thrown away in my pursuit for power.

Never have I understood those around me. Understood their obsessions.

Besieged by their banality, the world was a mire of tedium and trivialities. But in these fleeting moments, there is...a spark. Blinding, brilliant... Gone...too soon...

The world is a tepid bog into which we sink, too weak to thrash as the mud clings to our eyes and fills our throats till we blissfully choke.

But then came the light. Blinding and pure and hot─so very hot. Enough to set my soul aflame.

You make yourself a weapon, so you do not have to feel. But you are not a weapon; you are my brother.

Be careful, Phel... You have made every movement a thousand times. Until you bleed. Until you do not have to think.

They were all dead. The final gunshot was an exclamation mark to everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger.

And then it was all over. The storm seemed to lose its frenzy. The ragged clouds gave way to the stars above... A bit closer to heaven.
