General	₊˚⊹ 𐂯 did you know that the loudest bird call in the world belongs to the white bellbird? they can go up to 125 decibels per call, which is quieter than the 1883 eruption of the krakatoa volcano. it was recorded on august 27th, 1883, and was estimated to be about 310 decibels, making the white bellbird about 185 decibels quieter. going back to birds, a cassowary once kicked a tourist off of a small cliff into the ocean in 2012 australia. the tourist survived, but fuck, it must've been hard to get that 5 inch kitchen knife of a claw to the back. also, did you know that cassowaries are related to emus, kiwis, and ostriches? and that kiwi birds have to rearrange their skeletons and organs just to lay an egg? theres a thought to keep you up at night. by the way, the shoebill stork call can sound like guns being shot, essentially recreating a war ground. other birds that have weird and/or interesting calls include the loon, barn owl, eastern whip-poor-will, common potoo, screech owl, black-crowned night heron, great horned owl, tawny frogmouth, caterwauling barred owl, and laughing kookaburra.
